The Powerful Influence of Time - Part 1

The Powerful Influence of Time - Part 1

Divyarupa devi dasi

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

The following is a humble effort to share one of the transcription of class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on verse 3.30.2.

Now let us hear from Maharaj.

yam yam artham upaadatte / duhkhena sukha-hetave
tam tam dhunoti bhagavaan / pumaan chocati yat-krte

"Whatever is produced by the materialist with great pain and labor for so-called happiness, the Supreme Personality, as the time factor, destroys, and for this reason the conditioned soul laments."

yam yam—whatever; artham—object; upaadatte—one acquires; duhkhena—with difficulty; sukha-hetave—for happiness; tam tam—that; dhunoti—destroys; bhagavan—the Supreme Personality of Godhead; pumaan—the person; shocati—laments; yat-krte—for which reason

"For whatever reason one acquires, the material properties during his life, maybe we require houses, we require the cars, everything gets destroyed with time.  upaadatte means acquire. If you remember upaadatte word, then you remember all the whole thing, all the four lines.

What is the meaning of dukhena? 'with difficulty'. And sukha hetave means 'for happiness'. With difficulty we acquire the things. You know just to buy a car, it's a difficult. You know. You have to arrange for Lakshmi and you take a loan pay the installment, it is dukhena. Whatever he achieves, whatever he acquires with great difficulty and for happiness he does. So suppose he buys the house or he buys the car or he buys something else so acquiring this, acquiring that. Acquiring tendency is enough and tam tam. And what happens to them is the third line. tam tam dhunoti bhagavandhunoti word is very important. dhunoti means destroys you know. It is completely destroyed. Whatever you have acquired, it is destroyed by the Bhagavan, by the Supreme Lord. Whatever you acquire, you may try to acquire, so many things. But eventually Bhagavan comes and everything becomes flat. that is the meaning of it. And then pumaan- The living entity socati - laments you know. socati means laments. Yat krte- he doesn't understand the reason, why Lord is destroying the whole thing. He laments then. For the whole of lifetime this kriya goes on. These activities goes on. There are very very few intelligent living entities that they can come out of this life. Like few people, they sacrifice at the moment at least. And you know whatever minimum requirement we have, we will acquire it. And we live with them, we don't have unsatiable desires to acquire so much material properties. That is the result of coming to Krishna

As soon as you come to Krishna then the knowledge becomes completely clear in our mind. And because the knowledge is clear, then we don't really hanker after it. We do require things, no doubt. We are also staying in a body we are also staying in the material world, we deal with Lakshmi, we deal with our home......, we deal with all the things. But there is no attachment to have it more and more. That is the main thing to be understood. Why, because we know that in the form of time, Bhagavan just destroys the whole thing."

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Divyarupa devi dasi.
