The Powerful Influence of Time - Part 5

The Powerful Influence of Time - Part 5

Divyarupa devi dasi

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the transcription of class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on verse 3.30.2. In previous offering we saw

1. When we try to acquire things more and more, we are bound to face miseries as all such possessions are bound to be destroyed with time.
2. When we know that Krishna is the ultimate cause and accept every situation as His mercy, we will not be disturbed.
3. MSC - Mercy, Satisfaction, Control of Senses - way to please Krishna.

Now let us hear from Maharaj.

Also please learn and remember verse 12.17 from Bhagavad-Gita wherein Krishna says,

yo na hrshyati na dveshti / na shocati na kaankshati
shubhaashubha-parityaagi / bhaktimaan yah sa me priyah

"One who neither rejoices nor grieves, who neither laments nor desires, and who renounces both auspicious and inauspicious things—such a devotee is very dear to Me."

These 4 things - yo na hrshyati, if there is desirable then we don't hrshyati; hrshyati means to be happy, yo na hrsyati na dveshti, we don't envy any situation, we are not disturbed by any situations.

yo na hrshyati na dveshti / na shocati na kaankshati - There is no lamentation. na kaankshati. There is no hankering.  And shubhaashubha parityaagi - good or bad, everything is same for us. we leave it. And bhaktimaan - and always be bhaktimaan in any situation. yah sa me priyah - "that living entity is dear to Me." In 12th chapter, there are so many qualities given, "you are dear to Me." So those qualities we should imbibe. It starts from verse number 13 and ends at verse 19. So 13 to 19 are the verses in which all the qualities of devotees are given which are very dear to Krishna. Starting from

adveshta sarva bhutaanaam, from there to tulya nindaa stutir mauni - Till that.

So, this is the way to get into Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavatam and find out who is dear to Krishna. And then we try to be dear to Krishna. Our aim is Krishna. This passing phase, we are not disturbed at all. Because passing phase maybe good or bad. There are only two possibilities. This passing phase may be favorable to you or unfavourable to you. It doesn't matter. So because we know fully well that everything is under the purview of the time. The time controls everything. And Everything passes. doesn't remain at all. Those who know this, they are not disturbed, that is the best quality we acquire. And if we are disturbed then we are not a devotee (laughter). so we have to be very correct about this. Because we know that whatever we do, eventually it is going to be destroyed by the time. And whatever others do, is also going to be destroyed by the time. Because time never leaves anybody. Time only leaves that living entity who is unflinchingly attached to the Lord. Otherwise you are in the purview of time.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Divyarupa devi dasi.
