Initiation Conclusions - Part 5

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

This is in continuation of the transcription of the initiation lecture delivered by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on 28th June 2003 in Auckland, New Zealand. In the previous offerings we heard that initiation means

1. We conclude to devote ourselves to Krishna.
2. We conclude not to counteract.
3. We conclude to direct our whole attention to the Supreme Absolute Truth.
4. We conclude to reduce our obligations so that we can recognize the Supreme Authority.
5. We conclude to function properly in the four ashramas and thus have sanctity.

Here we see the other points.

6. We sanely conclude that Krishna is our only and Supreme shelter: In Srimad Bhagavad Gita 10.12, Krishna is described as:

arjuna uvāca
paraṁ brahma paraṁ dhāma pavitraṁ paramaṁ bhavān
puruṣaṁ śāśvataṁ divyam ādi-devam ajaṁ vibhum

Arjuna said: You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcendental, original person, the unborn, the greatest.

This is the preliminary description of our Supreme Lord. In two lines, ten qualities are there. He is the Supreme Absolute Truth. He is param dhāma - Supreme shelter. There is no shelter comparing to this. This we realize. That is why we are sitting here today. Otherwise there is no point. We have taken so many shelters so far- our houses, properties, gold, farms and so many things. We are always changing the shelters. This shelter is no good. So we take another shelter. This is no good… another shelter.. iti uti dhaya - always continuously running here and there. Please… come to the conclusion. param dhāma - This is the one transcendental shelter. From today we have decided to have the firm shelter of the transcendental supreme living being. This is the initiation. As soon as we understand this, that we have to take shelter of the supreme, then kṛṣṇaṁ vinā kā gatiḥ? There is no other way you can be satisfied unless you come to the goal of existence. kā gatiḥ means which other way is there? There is no other way. We have tried so many ways. That is why Caitanya Mahaprabhu sings nicely,

kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! he!
kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! he!
kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! rakṣā mām!
kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! kṛṣṇa! pāhi mām!
rāma! rāghava! rāma! rāghava! rāma! rāghava! rakṣā mām!
kṛṣṇa! keśava! kṛṣṇa! keśava kṛṣṇa! keśava! pāhi mām!

This from today we have decided. Really if we are seriously deciding this, other things must be secondary to this. Otherwise there is no use. Then you are just branded that you are initiated and there is no reciprocation. There is no serious attempt to go to the Supreme Absolute Truth and this is our foolishness. Better to avoid it. Even now you can stand up and go. Drive your car and go to hell. (Maharaj laughs) There is no compulsion. On our own free will, we have sanely decided that henceforth our only shelter is Krishna and nobody else. Now if you try to cheat Krishna, then He is Supreme cheat. He is Supreme all in all – Supreme everywhere.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear the other points from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
