Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the transcription of the class given by our Godbrother HG Viraja Krishna Prabhuji from Brisbane on Srimad Bhagavatam - verse 12.6.2.

raajovaaca
siddho 'smy anugrhito 'smi / bhavataa karunaatmanaa
shraavito yac ca me saakshaad / anaadi-nidhano harih

Maharaja Parikshit said: "I have now achieved the purpose of my life, because a great and merciful soul like you has shown such kindness to me. You have personally spoken to me this narration of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hari, who is without beginning or end."

In the previous offering we heard from Prabhuji

1) we should learn the verses from the book, by repeated recitation - not using the mobile.

2) Parikshit Maharaj expresses his gratitude to Sukadev Goswami - that because of his mercy, he had attained perfection.

3) When one helps us to hear about the glories of Krishna that is their mercy on us.

Now we shall hear further.

(Prabhuji went on to inquire the children to explain the meaning of the first two lines of then verse and later continued to explain about the word karunayaa) "In Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.3, Suta Goswami while offering obeisances to Sukadev Goswami, mentions this word karunayaa.

yah svaanubhaavam akhila-sruti-saaram ekam
adhyaatma-deepam atititirshataam tamo 'ndham
samsaarinaam karunayaaha puraana-guhyam
tam vyaasa-sunum upayaami gurum muninaam

"Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto him [Suka], the spiritual master of all sages, the son of Vyasadeva, who, out of his great compassion for those gross materialists who struggle to cross over the darkest regions of material existence, spoke this most confidential supplement to the cream of Vedic knowledge, after having personally assimilated it by experience."

The qualities of Sukadev Goswami is nicely mentioned in this verse. yah svaanubhaavam - means self-assimilated - he had personally experienced - had high realisation of the Supreme Absolute Truth; akhila-sruti-saaram ekam - He spoke Srimad Bhagavatam which is the cream of all Vedic literatures; adhyaatma-deepam - he is the torch bearer; atititirshataam tamo 'ndham - for those who are blinded by darkness of ignorance, he gave the light of spiritual knowledge. samsaarinaam karunayaaha puraana-guhyam - He has given this confidential knowledge of all scriptures to the suffering mass, out of great compassion. tam vyaasa-sunum upayaami gurum muninaam - He is son of Vyasadev and spiritual master of all sages.

Two exalted personalities were speaking - one is Brahma-raata (Sukadev Goswami) and another is Vishnu-raata (Parikshit Maharaj). Both of them were protected in the mother's womb by Krishna's mercy. One was asking perfect question and another was giving the perfect answer."

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Prabhuji in the subsequent offerings.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
