Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Rareness of Human Birth" - which is a transcription of the class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on verse 11.9.29.

labdhvaa su-durlabham idam bahu-sambhavaante
maanushyam artha-dam anityam apeeha dheerah
turnam yateta na pated anu-mrtyu yaavan
nihshreyasaaya vishayah khalu sarvatah syaat

"After many, many births and deaths one achieves the rare human form of life, which, although temporary, affords one the opportunity to attain the highest perfection. Thus a sober human being should quickly endeavour for the ultimate perfection of life as long as his body, which is always subject to death, has not fallen down and died. After all, sense gratification is available even in the most abominable species of life, whereas Kṛṣṇa consciousness is possible only for a human being."

In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj about  how important it is for us to take to devotional service immediately without delay. Now we shall hear further.

v. Dealing with Old-age:  Old age without Krishna is a madness. The fellow can only talk in old age. There is no energy—but he sits in a corner – yup yup yup. The young person, they don’t like it. They are married and they have to go to cinema etc and so they say to him, “You shut up!” And they ignore him. So instead of hearing this “Shut up”,  as soon as we become older, we should only open the mouth when needed.

As we become old, we should be completely silent—that is the nice thing. We should be completely silent, because anyway the children understand everything. They are not going to be under our control anymore. So it is better if we suggest something to them, if they like they will follow. Otherwise they will suffer. We should be completely quite. Unless the children come and ask their father, “what is it about this?” Then only that moment you talk. That’s all. Then you save yourselves. And the rest of the time, you must be unflinchingly attached to Krishna’s topics. Innumerable topics we have. We have just in Bhagavatam alone there are 18000 verses. And we cannot complete that alone. And again what to talk of Bhagavad Gita, Caitanya Caritamrta, Isopanishad, Nectar of devotion, Nectar of Instruction.  More than lifetime, we have these things really.

So in order to understand this process how to cut this vicious cycle of birth, death, old age, and disease, what is the process recommended by Srimad bhagavatam is given in this verse. It is a well tested and well proved verse. And that verse we have to learn. And before we discuss, do we have prasadam? (Maharaj says humorously) So nobody will take prasadam, unless we recite this verse which we are doing. So please be awake. The verse is like this. Please repeat after me.

shrnvanti gaayanti grnanti abhikshnashah
smaranti nandanti tavehitam janaaha
ta eva pashyanti acirena taavakam
bhava-pravaaho paramam padaambujam

"O Krishna, those who continuously hear, chant and repeat Your transcendental activities, or take pleasure in others' doing so, certainly see Your lotus feet, which alone can stop the repetition of birth and death."

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Jyesta devi dasi,
Chennai.
