Realise the Spiritual Reality - Part 10

Realise the Spiritual Reality - Part 10

Divyarupa devi dasi

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in conclusion of the previous offering titled, "Realise the Spiritual Reality" wherein we were transcribing one of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verses 8.3.8-9.  In the previous offering Maharaj said how we should keep material things to the minimum and take to chanting of Krishna's names. Now we shall hear further.

srimad bhagavatam puranam amalam yad vaishnavaanaam priyam
yasmin paaramahamsyam ekam amalam jnaanam param geeyate
tatra jnaana viraaga bhakti sahitam naishkarmyam aavishkrtam
tac chrnvan supathan vicaarana paro bhaktyaa vimucyen narah

"Srimad Bhagavatam is the spotless purana. It is most dear to the Vaishnavas because it describes the pure and supreme knowledge of the paramahamsas. This Bhagavatam reveals the means for becoming free from all material work, together with the processes of transcendental knowledge, renunciation and devotion. Anyone who seriously tries to understand Srimad Bhagavatam, who properly hears and chants it with devotion, becomes completely liberated."

Maharaj continuing with explanation on verse 12.13.19: "Ambarish Maharaja was the king of the whole planet. How much busy he should be? (Referring to a devotee running the restaurant Maharaj said), Hardly we have the restaurant, one restaurant, isn't it? And  think that, "I am the king of this (laughter)." How much he might have big deal, isn't it Ambarish? (laughter). Raja of the whole planet, emperor you know, emperor. and even then he had taken a vow that, "except Krishna I will not speak anything." And we speak, what is it? Pizza or what do you supply? All savouries and everything. And we saw so much machinery in your kitchen. He is mad (laughter). And then cleaning and this and that how much labour is involved. In this there is no life. Please I don't discourage you from having restaurants or anything. You please carry on. But come to this for 2-3 hours at least, and will be liberated. that is the meaning of 'jnaanam pari giyate'.

Then he says what is given in these pages tatra – herein, jnaan – real knowledge is given, and as soon as real knowledge is there, and knowledge is nothing else, as we have seen jivera svarupa haaya krishnera nitya das - jivera svarupa - Our constitutional position swarup - "my own form" ; sva means "own", and rupa means "form". My own constitutional position is that, "I am the servant of Krishna." Krishnera nitya das - of Krishna. As soon as you come to this jnaan, then second thing follows, vairaagya - detachment what is that verse in Bhagavatam ?

vaasudeva bhagavati / bhakti-yogah prayojitah
janayaty aashu vairaagyam / jnaanam ca yad ahaitukam

"By rendering devotional service unto the Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna, one immediately acquires causeless knowledge and detachment from the world."

As soon as you approach Vasudev, in Bhakti yoga then janayati asu vairaagyam. Immediately there is knowledge and detachment."

(Recording ends)

Granthraj Srimad Bhagavtam ki Jai ! Srila Prabhupada ki Jai ! Srila Gurudev ki Jai. Heartfelt thanks to Maharaj for this sublime class. Hare Krishna.
