Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

We live in a world of "mobiles". Right from babies to elders, everyone are busy holding on to gadgets all day and night. Gone are the days when families could spend quality time talking to each other, or have a happy meal together. From dining room to bedrooms -  mobiles have become the constant companion for many of us.

With most of our basic activities like payment of bills, homework for kids, official communication etc happening through mobile - one may not be able to avoid its usage completely. But we should not forget the reality that any modern invention - if over-used, will always cause trouble. Death, divorces, broken families, depression - all are on the increasing trend - because of overuse of this lifeless demon, whose constant darshan is not only disrupting family lives - but also making us forget the ultimate goal of life - to render service to Guru and Krishna. Can we just imagine how powerful is this lifeless demon - that it's mere absence can make so many living beings restless ? Indeed Krishna very rightly says in Bhagava Gita 7.14 - daivi hy eshaa gunamayi mama maaya duratyayaa - "This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome." But how can we revive our consciousness ? How to get rid of this forgetfulness ?

Srimad Bhagavatam verse 2.2.1 gives us the solution

sri suka uvaaca
evam puraa dharanayaatma yonir
nashtaam smrtim pratyavarudhya tushtaat
tathaa sasarjedam amogha-drshtir
yathaapyayaat praag vyavasaaya buddhih

Sri Sukadeva Gosvami said: "Formerly, prior to the manifestation of the cosmos, Lord Brahma, by meditating on the viraat-rupa, regained his lost consciousness by appeasing the Lord. Thus he was able to rebuild the creation as it was before."

Srila Prabhupada explains in the purport - "This forgetfulness of the living being—beginning from Brahma down to the lowest insignificant ant—is a tendency which can be counteracted by meditation on the virat-rupa of the Lord. This chance is available in the human form of life, and if a human being follows the instruction of Srimad Bhagavatam and begins to meditate upon the viraat-rupa, then revival of his pure consciousness and counteraction of the tendency to forget his eternal relationship with the Lord can follow simultaneously."

By the mercy of Srila Prabhupada we have the transcendental forms of the Supreme Lord in the form of Deities and books like Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. So instead of being bound to the mobiles and having its darshan, if we start taking the darshan of these forms, then we will be able to overcome forgetfulness and engage in loving service of the Lord. And that alone will give us the experience of liberation - His Divine Grace beautifully mentions in the concluding lines of the purport to the above verse - "Liberation means getting out of the slumber of forgetfulness and becoming situated in the real loving service of the Lord, as exemplified in the case of Brahma. The service of Brahma is the sample of service in liberation distinguished from the so-called altruistic services full of mistakes and forgetfulness. Liberation is never inaction, but service without human mistakes."

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
