Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Dandavat pranams. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "What is the Impact?" wherein we were trying to learn the lessons taught by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada based on his class given on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.7.40. Quoting the thoughtful nature of Arjuna - not to kill Ashwattama - considering his mother Krpi - His Divine Grace mentioned that how as devotee we also need to always considerate on what is the impact of our words and decisions and not behave whimsically. Now we shall hear further lessons from Srila Prabhupada.
His Divine Grace says that just because we have taken up devotional service, we should not become careless at work or any services at home - considering them to be material. Everything belongs to Krishna and therefore everything is spiritual. So we need to handle everything with more care and caution.
Quoting the example of Raghunath das Goswami - who expertly saved his father and uncle - from being arrested by the nawabs for tax related issues Prabhupada says -"It does not mean that a Vaishnava will be fool and rascal because he's Vaishnava. No. Vaishnava, twenty-six qualifications. One of the qualifications is daksha: he must be very expert in doing things very nicely. Not that because one is Vaishnava he'll be callous in the worldly things. No. Therefore I repeatedly request the management that you must be very expert in managing these temple affairs. Everything to the right point. Not a single farthing should be wasted. A Vaishnava must be daksha, expert in everything. This is no excuse, that "I have become a devotee. Therefore I am callous to all material things." What material things? Nirbandhah krishna-sambandhe yuktam vairaagyam ucyate. Anything in relationship with Krishna, that is not material; that is spiritual. I have several times explained that this temple, don't think it is ordinary building. It is Vaikuntha. Cintaamani-prakara-sadmasu. Krishna has His house, prakara-sadmasu. Cintaamani-prakara-sadmasu. Sadma. Sadma means house. So we should take very, very careful attention that this temple is kept very nicely, managed very nicely. Not that "I have become Vaishnava. Let everything be stolen or spoiled or broken. I have become Vaishnava. I cannot take care. That is not my consideration."
May we remember these golden instructions of His Divine Grace and let us try to be more considerate, responsible and try to deal expertly with whatever Krishna has entrusted us with - be it other living entities, job, wealth, land etc with great care and attention.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
