Krishna Reveals Himself - Part 10

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Krishna Reveals Himself" - wherein we were meditating on the conversation between the Supreme Lord and Brahmaji after He gave darshan to him. Now we shall see further.

In Srimad Bhagavatam verse 2.9.21 Lord Krishna says

varaṁ varaya bhadraṁ te vareśaṁ mābhivāñchitam
brahmañ chreyaḥ-pariśrāmaḥ puṁsāṁ mad-darśanāvadhiḥ

I wish you good luck. O Brahma, you may ask from Me, the giver of all benediction, all that you may desire. You may know that the ultimate benediction, as the result of all penances, is to see Me by realization.

The word "varesha" and "abhivaanchitam" in the above verse are worth meditating. "varesha" means - "giver of all benediction". The Supreme Lord is therefore glorified as Varadaraja - King of all benedictions. abhivaanchitam means "wishing". Lord is also the best well-wisher of all. Lord also says that the best benediction we could ask for is to see Him with realisation. In Vedic scriptures also there is a nice verse

aradhito yadi hari tapasa tatah kim
na aradito yadi hari tapasa tatah kim
antar bahir yadi hari tapasa tatah kim
na antar bahir yadi hari tapasa tatah kim

If we have come to the point of worshiping Lord Hari, what is the point of doing any more penances ? If we have not come to the point of worshiping Lord Hari, then what is the use of doing any other penance? If we are able to see Krishna within and outside everything, then what is the need for any more penance? If we have not come to the point of seeing Krishna everywhere, what is the use of such penance?

To have the transcendental darshan of the Supreme Lord is the greatest blessing and we see so many devotees in the pages of Srimad Bhagavatam insisting the truth of this statement. Kunti Maharani says in her prayers (Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.8.25) - "I wish that all those calamities would happen again and again so that we could see You again and again, for seeing You means that we will no longer see repeated births and deaths."  Devotees like Dhruva Maharaj, Sudama also did not want to ask any other benediction after seeing the Lord as they knew that His darshan is the best benediction for all.

Krishna willing we shall meditate further on this topic in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
