Real Meaning of Jaya - Part 2

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Real Meaning of Jaya" which is transcription of one of the nectarean Bhagavatam class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj in 1998, in Singapore.

In the previous offering we heard the below points.

1. Jaya means glorification - Any place where Lord appears is glorious.

Maharaj then began to glorify Srila Prabhupada and the importance of studying his books and writing down the points. We shall continue to hear further.

2. Importance of Writing Notes:
You know once upon a time in south India, I tell many times, that there was a big swami you know, very big, with all the belly and everything came (laughter) and he was in saffron dress and big tilak. So people went to hear, because everybody goes to hear. That is also entertainment. Swami has come, come, come (laughter). No spiritual value at all. But they wanted - some retired persons you know, they don't have anything to do. "Hey, come on, we will hear this man for a change you know (laughter)." So they heard and came out after the lecture. So somebody asked him, how was Swamiji? "Wow, Swamiji spoke so very high, it was very nice!" So he said what did you understand? He said, "No no. He speaks so high that we don't understand even a single word (laughter)." That is not Prabhupada’s legacy. Prabhupada is very clear - even a  small child, you know one maybe starting to learn English and if he reads Bhagavad Gita it would be clear to him. This is the special. So we should also write, in such a way, very simple writing, you know, you all have mystic powers. You all have command over English language. So instead of writing pages and pages for prajalpa, it is better that you meditate on this and you write something.

(Turning to a devotee Maharaj says) you should divert your attention this side. This is how you also, you rascal, you write so many pages (laughter). Write about Krishna, meditate, you are already meditating you know. This is the proper way to use your intelligence. Otherwise we go on criticizing. "Why is he moving around like this you know (laughter)." So the main thing is our attention is diverted to a very wrong point. That is the main thing.  Instead Prabhupada has peeled our ears you know. "You rascal, what are you doing (laughter)?" It is not your aim of existence, to do this and to do that and to write this and to write that you know. Our goal of existence is the devotional service, without any expectation or return. It's not a business deal you know. So can't do that way. It should be unmotivated. There shouldn't be any other motive, but love.

3. Real Meaning of Jaya:
You know even the material boss, if you are very really, carefully attached to his work, he will be very pleased. He wants unflinching attachment. You cannot just sing bhajan there and carry on the service. It is diverted. You should be completely attached to his work and then only he will be satisfied. So that is how it is coming. This tendency, is coming from Krishna. Krishna also wants unconditional surrender. There shouldn't be any condition. That is how unconditional surrender, will supply you everything by Him. Even without surrender, He is supplying. You know he is not stopping your oxygen, He is not stopping your prasadam, He is not stopping your water. You know whether you believe or not, they drink His water, His energy, they breathe His air; and say, "I don't believe He is there you know(laughter)." What to do to with these people? That's why Prabhupada was very upset you know. In his writings, you can find out from computers, you are all computer experts, that he has used more time rascal word than the Krishna word (laughter). He was so very upset. And I don't remember the figure. But one devotee tried to use his intelligence and find out how many times he has uttered rascal word. You know how many times. And more than Krishna, whatever the number is, applies to you (laughter). So this is how we have to come to this. And that's what Gopis say that, "as soon as You appeared on this track of land, that track of land is also glorified." Otherwise what is there is the same stone, same earth, same buildings maybe. So there is no difference really whether it is Vrindavan or Mathura or Delhi or Calcutta. I think Delhi has more buildings than Mathura. So it should be more glorified, if the buildings are to be glorified. But buildings are not glorified. The presence of Krishna is glorified. That is jaya you know.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
Divya Rupa devi dasi
Muscat.
