Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
I am writing a few points which our dear spiritual master, HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, told us during his last visit to Avataridesh. Maharaj expressed his sincere feeling for Srila Prabhupada and the Vedic literatures. He also emphasized on following Srila Prabhupada and to be careful with those not completely following the regulative principles. We address Srila Prabhupadaas founder acharya of ISKCON. An acharya is one who teaches by his own example. Maharaj, beautifully explained this in a precise manner, through verse 6.9.22 in Srimad Bhagavatam:
avismitaṁ taṁ paripūrṇa-kāmaṁ
svenaiva lābhena samaṁ praśāntam
vinopasarpaty aparaṁ hi bāliśaḥ
śva-lāṅgulenātititarti sindhum
Free from all material conceptions of existence and never wonder-struck by anything, the Lord is always jubilant and fully satisfied by His own spiritual perfection. He has no material designations, and therefore He is steady and unattached. That Supreme Personality of Godhead is the only shelter of everyone. Anyone desiring to be protected by others is certainly a great fool who desires to cross the sea by holding the tail of a dog.
Srila Prabhupada so very nicely quoted in the purport the verse 10.14.58 from Srimad Bhagavatam,
samāśritā ye pada-pallava-plavaṁ
mahat-padaṁ puṇya-yaśo murāreḥ
bhavāmbudhir vatsa-padaṁ paraṁ padaṁ
padaṁ padaṁ yad vipadāṁ na teṣām
The Lord's lotus feet are an indestructible boat, and if one takes shelter of that boat he can easily cross the ocean of nescience. Consequently, there are no dangers for a devotee although he lives within this material world, which is full of dangers at every step. One should seek the shelter of the all-powerful instead of trying to be protected by one's own concocted ideas.
Even after knowing that there is danger at every step in this material world, if we still hanker for directions from someone else other than Srila Prabhupada, then we should be considered as fools. After going through so many verses from Srimad Bhagavatam with wonderful purports from Srila Prabhupad, we are still running here and there. Srila Prabhupada sacrificed his life so that fallen souls like us will be benefited.
Just have trust in Srila Prabhupada and follow him. We have a proven result in front of us. There is theory and there is fact. We have a theory - Darwin's theory which talks about the evolution of man coming from apes, homosapiens, etc.. but this theory is not yet proved.
Gurudev said, "What Srila Prabhupada has given to the universe is in front of all of us. His writing is uncomparable, unbelievable. One verse & one purport fixes us . And how many purports His Divine Grace has written???? So, how much fixed he should be to write these wonderful purports which are his personal ecstasies. We don't think about his mood, we only think about ourselves".
We have got diamond in our hand but we are running after the stone. It's not a criticism but sheer ignorance. It takes Lord Brahma to create this universe but it takes His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupad, to deliver this universe. I am not exaggerating His Divine Grace but as mentioned earlier, the facts are in front of us. Running after somebody apart from the Supreme Personality of Godhead is like śvalāṅgulenātititarti sindhum.
When we have to cross the ocean, we see the dog is also there trying to swim through the ocean. The dog will go a little distance in the water & come out again. If we try to hold the dog's tail thinking that we will cross the ocean with the dog, we will drown ourselves along with the dog. Following somebody not in the line of the disciplic succession is like holding the tail of the dog. We have to be very careful and as Gurudev always says, "Don't leave the dhoti of Srila Prabhupad". Else we are verily condemned (jugupsitam).
