Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my dandavat pranams. All glories to Srila Praphupada and Srila Gurudev.
While studying 7th Canto I found a beautiful verse (verse 12) from chapter 3. The verse is as follows,
iti śuśruma nirbandhaṁ tapaḥ paramam āsthitaḥ
vidhatsvānantaraṁ yuktaṁ svayaṁ tri-bhuvaneśvara
O Lord, we have heard from reliable sources that in order to obtain your post, Hiranyakasipu is now engaged in severe austerity. You are the master of three worlds. Please, without delay, take whatever steps you deem appropriate. (SB 7.3.12)
Above verse is spoken by demigods to Lord Brahma. Since Lord Brahma is authority in charge for this material world, demigods whenever they are in danger they use to approach Brahma for help. In his wonderful purport to the above verse, Srila Prabhupadawrites, " In the material world, a servant is provided for by the master but is always planning how to capture the master's post. There have been many instances of this in history." Srila Prabhupadafurther quotes an instance, how a mohammedan boy, who was a servant of a big zamindar, (Subudhi rai) became Nawab Hussain shah (ruler of Bengal) through crooked means.
The thing is, in this material world people want more and more things ( money, power, name, fame etc.) with the shortest possible way. If it is not achieved through legal means (like through hard labour, intelligence etc.) then illegal means are employed to achieve it. And of course sometimes people get these so called opulences through illegal means, like Kamsa kidnapped his own father and became King, General Zia killed Bhutto and became ruler of Pakistan and so on.
BUT, there is not a single instance in the history where a living entity achieved spiritual opulence (Lord Krsna's favour) through illegal means. There is only one way to get Krsna's favour i.e, by genuinely serving Krsna's devotees (Bhagvatas) with sincereity and humility and by obeying their instructions cent percent.
So from the core of my heart I have to throw out the idea of lording over material possessions and simply surrender to spiritual master whole heartedly. May be by his mercy, some day or other Lord Krsna will definitely favour us.
