Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj - Vyasa Puja 2010 - Part 2

Dear Devotees,
Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Gurudev!

We are continuing on the topic of glorification of our beloved Gurudev on account of Vyasapuja mahautsav 2010. We were seeing the transcendental qualities of our gurudev on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 3.9.25

so ’sāv adabhra-karuṇo bhagavān vivṛddha-
prema-smitena nayanāmburuhaṁ vijṛmbhan
utthāya viśva-vijayāya ca no viṣādaṁ
mādhvyā girāpanayatāt puruṣaḥ purāṇaḥ

The Lord, who is supreme and is the oldest of all, is unlimitedly merciful. I wish that He may smilingly bestow His benediction upon me by opening His lotus eyes. He can uplift the entire cosmic creation and remove our dejection by kindly speaking His directions.

We have explained two qualities - adhabra karunah - "unlimited merciful" and vivddha prema smitena - "excessive loving smile".

In the first quality adhabra karunah, by mistake I missed to give details of an example quoted about verse - "evam vyavasito buddhyā". I seek forgivance for missing the same in yesterday's offering. So we shall meditate more on this quality again today. Maharaj's explanation on the word vyavaisto buddhyā (Srimad Bhagavatam 8.3.1) - 'being situated in perfect intelligence", is as follows.

In human species we have special intelligence and we have to organize our lives using this intelligence. Unless we are materially well organized, we can never enter into the spiritual realm. A haphazard material life, does not allow us to progress spiritually. Arrangement of material life in a nice manner, gives us a pleasing attitude. Being parts and parcels of Krishna, bliss is our birth right and monopoly. Spiritually we are far away, unless the material end is properly organized. If we are disorganized, we are diseased. As it is, this material lump (our body) will drag you to ignorance and disease means more ignorance thus placing us in the darkest region of existence. To have a blissful life, we should disconnect ourselves from this lump. Everybody has an innate disposition but by intelligence it can be changed. Innate disposition depends upon the modes and we can get out of the modes, as soon as Krishna is there. This requires that we are immaculately well organized. We cannot discard material life. It is beyond our capacity to avoid material situations. We cannot ignore material situations and be happy. We have to arrange and be happy.

Who else can give such wonderful explanation on this particular word evam vyavasito buddhyaa?

Now we will discuss other two qualities of Maharaj which is explained in this verse.

3. viśva-vijayāya - Glorification of cosmic manifestation
Srila Prabhupada in his wonderful purport gives the reason behind Brahma's prayers to Lord Sri Krishna for creative energy. - The whole cosmic manifestation is a chance for all to improve themselves in devotional service to the Lord, and everyone is meant for that purpose.

Lord Brahma would be completely pleased that Mahabhagavata like our Gurudev had one and only mission, which is to elevate all the fallen souls like us and give a chance for the highest perfection of life by making us engaged in diety worship of Sri Radha Krishna so that we can invoke our dormant loving devotional service to the Lord. Maharaj served the mission of Lord Brahma and Srila Prabhupada with unflinching faith and zeal. This is the victory for the Lord and His bonafide disciplic succession. Maharaj's explanation of anatomy of body and the whole glorification of cosmic manifestation is unparalleled. He use to say that we eat yellow dhokla, brown chappati green sabji to our stomach. But the Lord is merciful within our body and converts all this into red blood.

4. mādhvyā girāpanayatāt - By sweet words he removes our dejection
Maharaj has never ever instructed us to be engaged in devotional service. Rather with his sweet words, "please please please", requested us so lovingly to be engaged in devotional service of the Lord. His choice of words is so astounding that it would completely beseech our heart. The moment we appear before him all our material miseries vanish into thin air and whatever we want to ask him, he would convey through his sweet nectarean lectures so lovingly and compassionately. By his sweet words of instructions he always made our lives sublime. In one of the classes, he made everyone lovingly to recite the verse from Srimad Bhagavatam - 8.2.33, "yat kashcenaso" and remember it by heart. He also conveyed the message and purport of the verse so sweetly and lovingly and lucidly so that everyone can remember it nicely. Maharaj guided us so nicely to enter into the realm of transcendence of Srila Prabhupada Srimad Bhagavatam which is completely unknown to all of us till we met Maharaj. Maharaj executed the mood and mission of Srila Prabhupada without an iota of doubt.

Maharaj is unlimited and his glories are unlimited and therefore very difficult for fallen soul like me to glorify him adequately. I therefore take shelter of this verse in Srimad Bhagavatam - 2.6.37.

nāhaṁ na yūyaṁ yad-ṛtāṁ gatiṁ vidur
na vāmadevaḥ kim utāpare surāḥ
tan-māyayā mohita-buddhayas tv idaṁ
vinirmitaṁ cātma-samaṁ vicakṣmahe

Since neither Lord Shiva nor you nor I could ascertain the limits of spiritual happiness, how can other demigods know it? And because all of us are bewildered by the illusory external energy of the Supreme Lord, we can see only this manifested cosmos according to our individual ability.

I pray therefore to the dust of his lotus feet that one day I may become a real disciple of him.

Thank you very much.
Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada and Gurudev,
Sajjana Priya Krishna das
