When we walk all day in scorching sun, then we would definitely be able to appreciate the cooling rays of moon in the evening. Day in and day out we are all burning in this fire of material life and so it is very important for us to take shelter of Lord Nitai's lotus feet as it is as cooling as the moon rays combined together of millions of moons.
The devotees of the Lord, who are all confidential servitors, are sometimes perplexed in the discharge of their respective duties, but they are never discouraged. They have full faith in the Lord, and He paves the way for the smooth progress of the devotee's duty.
The best way to make our spiritual life complete is take complete shelter of the bona fide spiritual master. Then by his mercy we can perfect our existence and see Lord Krishna within and without at every minute.
The important word to note hear is 'mudaa' (with great delight). It is important that we always maintain a cheerful mentality when doing any service whether it is to do with Krishna or to do with mundane souls. Because as soon as we enjoy the service then it is 'atma-prasadanim' (extremely pleasing to the self).
While going to Dwaraka the car ride was quite smooth and I nodded off for the most part of the ride. Maharaj was sitting in the front seat and he did not turn back to see us. He was constantly chanting and never slept in the entire ride. Then once the ratha-yatra was almost over, Maharaj and the three of us returned back to Rajkot the same night.
Srila Vyaasadev, initially wrote so many literatures recommending the worship of various demigods. But in the end, he was feeling despondent. Narada Muni very nicely pointed out that by providing people with so many shelters, Vyaasadev had bewildered the people and that by not seeing things in relation to Supreme Lord Krishna, no one could be happy.
The glory of Dwaraka dham is unlimited, just like Krsna is unlimited. The speciality of Dwaraka is that this is the place where the Lord spent most of His time in this planet. During His stay of almost 100 years in the region of Saurashtra, the Lord walked and traveled so many times on this piece of land that even now we can perceive the presence of the Lord easily in this area.
One who is unable to live for a moment without Krsna consciousness cannot but think of Krsna twenty-four hours, being engaged in devotional service by hearing, chanting, remembering, offering prayers, worshiping, serving the lotus feet of the Lord, rendering other services, cultivating friendship and surrendering fully to the Lord.
"But in spite of all this, Draupadi desired that Aśvatthāmā be at once released, and it was all the same a good sentiment for her. This means that a devotee of the Lord can tolerate all sorts of tribulation personally, but still such devotees are never unkind to others, even to the enemy.
The Pandavas, inspite of all the difficulties they had to go through, emerged victorious because they were unflinchingly attached to the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna, were very tolerant of all the turbulence they had to go through and above all, they were fully respectful of the elders like Bhishmadev, Dhronacharya, Kripacarya, Vidura and Dhrtarashtra.
Maharaj was very nicely insisting on the point of 'grabbing tendency'. He said, "We all have the grabbing tendency in us. We always want to snatch other's possessions, wealth, name and fame and so on. We are not satisfied with what is given to us.
The quality of tolerance is tremendously important not only to relish devotional service. It is essential even to live a peaceful life in this material world. We have to tolerate the various kinds of miseries that are forced upon us by the other living entities, by natural disturbances and by our own mind and body.
Maharaj said that it is not enough to do hearing and chanting for ourselves. We should also make others relish the chanting and hearing. More important is that our preaching should reach others. It should not be that we speak some hi-fi philosophy and nothing goes into the hearer's head.
Sometimes a child is born even to an impotent father and sterile mother, and sometimes a potent father and fertile mother are childless. Indeed, sometimes a child is born despite contraceptive methods, and therefore the parents kill the child in the womb.
Being the Supersoul, Krsna is our constant companion and stays in our heart. But we are not Krsna's constant companion because we are not recognized by Krsna. We can say I know many big people or even the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, but if the Ruler of Abu Dhabi knows us, only then it is significant.
In this material whirlpool, we sometimes undergo some really tricky and ugly situations wherein, to hide our mistakes we put the blame on others. Misunderstandings takes its toil everywhere, no matter how hard we try to clear them, it gets more worsened, when we dont want to accept our faults.
Once while in the Srirangam temple, Sri Ramanuja approached a learned scholar named "Thirukkoshtiyur nambi' who made Sri Ramanuja come around 18 times before actually instructing him. He cautioned Ramanuja that he should not give out the secrets of the mantra he taught him, to all and sundry, and if he did so, he would go to hell.
It is our duty to mold our lifes so that we will never ever get fed up in Krishna Consciousness. We alone are to beblame four our present situation; I have sole responsibility to take care of my spiritual life no matter what happens with meor around me I WILL NEVER EVER GET FED UP IN Krishna Consciousness.
As long as we have this material body there are various duties prescribed for us. Whatever duties we have to do according to our varnas and ashramas, we have to perform with all our heart without any lethargy. Whatever post you are allotted, if you work with all your heart then its like following orders of Krishna.
Sripad Ramanujacarya had several disciples in various ashramas. Once, it came to pass that some of his sannyas-disciples were displaying an attitude of pride towards the disciples in the grhasta ashram. Becoming aware of this, and strictly disapproving of this attitude of pride, which is detrimental to the development of Bhakti, Sripad Ramanujacarya decided to set a small example with the intention of correcting them of their deviation.
Materialistic persons are considered condemned because they are interested in hellish activities and not in transcendental activities. The message of the Lords activities is nectar, and besides that message, any information in which we may be interested is actually hellish.
Maharaj explained, "Here the word is sama-drk, seeing everything with equal vision is very important. Without equal vision or equipoise a devotee is incomplete. A devotee of the Lord cannot be unequal in any aspect, not only in the temple and surroundings but also outside in the society and with every person. Equality should be our behavior.Maharaj explained, "Here the word is sama-drk, seeing everything with equal vision is very important. Without equal vision or equipoise a devotee is incomplete. A devotee of the Lord cannot be unequal in any aspect, not only in the temple and surroundings but also outside in the society and with every person. Equality should be our behavior.
We all are striving to go back to Godhead. Since we all are imperfect, we may do devotional service with either some motive or sometimes have the pride of being a great Vaishnava. We may sometimes be ignorant of all the bad qualities we may have, but to sincerely achieve the lotus feet of Krishna, we have to forget that we are the doer of anything.
In this regard Madhvacharya states ,"There is no need to pray to the Lord to remember our spiritual activities as He is all knowing. So in the verse it actually implies "simply praying for the Lord's mercy". Srila Prabhupada also states that, "The Lord is more anxious to take us back than we're interested to approach Him".
Once a Vaishnava invited his friend for lunch. He served him prasadam nicely and later inquired him about his devotional service. The friend got angry and said, What are you talking about ? What devotional service ? I dont even have any faith on God. After hearing this from his friend, the Vaishnava was stunned.
Any benefit in this world, be it material or spiritual - when we get it immediately without any endeavor, we fail to understand the value of the same. For example, if we start responding to whatever demands our children place before us, (by buying all the things they want, immediately for them) they would never know the value of those things.
Srimad Bhagavatam has unlimited treasure house of realization hidden within each verse. We can understand this simply by meditating on the word-word equivalents of these verses. I cannot imagine how much Srila Prabhupada had to meditate upon to write the word-word meanings and then combine them together to give such necatarean translation.
You are making a distinction between an animal and yourself, but you are forgetting that just an animal will die, you will also die. So where is your advancement? Will you remain forever? You will also die. So where is your advancement over an animal? That is stated in the Vedic literatures.
