By showing mercy to all living entities, being satisfied somehow or other and controlling the senses from sense enjoyment, one can very quickly satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Janardana.
Words that do not describe the transcendental Personality of Godhead but instead deal with temporary matters are simply false and useless. Only those words that manifest the transcendental qualities of the Supreme Lord are actually truthful, auspicious and pious
"In spite of my inability, whatever I have been able to hear [from the spiritual master] and whatever I could assimilate I am now describing in glorification of the Lord by pure speech, for otherwise my power of speaking would remain unchaste."
Reading all 12 cantos of Bhagavatam without faith gets us nowhere, but following one word of Guru with faith can simply pick us up from the deep rooted waters of material existence and place us into the true path of devotion.
"O learned brahmanas, when Sukadeva Gosvami recited Bhagavatam there [in the presence of Emperor Parikshit], I heard him with rapt attention, and thus, by his mercy, I learned the Bhagavatam from that great and powerful sage. Now I shall try to make you hear the very same thing as I learned it from him and as I have realized it."
"O greatly fortunate Sukadeva Gosvami, please continue narrating Srimad-Bhagavatam so that I can place my mind upon the Supreme Soul, Lord Krsna, and, being completely freed from material qualities, thus relinquish this body."
All the conditioned souls are impure due to contact with the material energy in three modes of nature. Therefore it is necessary that they purify themselves under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master, who not only is a brahmana by qualification but must also be a Vaishnava.
Carrying out the order of His father, who was bound by a promise to his wife, Lord Ramacandra left behind His kingdom, opulence, friends, well-wishers, residence and everything else, just as a liberated soul gives up his life, and went to the forest with Sita.
"O supreme unconquerable Lord, when they become absorbed in thoughts of material enjoyment, Lord Brahma and Lord Siva, as well as other demigods and demons, undergo severe penances and austerities to receive my benedictions. But I do not favor anyone, however great he may be; unless he is always engaged in the service of Your lotus feet. Because I always keep You within my heart, I cannot favor anyone but a devotee."
She also was breathing very heavily, and she did not know the factual remedy for the painful situation. Not finding any remedy, she said to her son : My dear son, don’t wish for anything inauspicious for others. Anyone who inflicts pains upon others suffers himself from that pain
This cosmic creation results from interaction of the three modes of nature, and the temporary manifestations are so created as to present an illusion of reality to the bewildered mind of the conditioned soul
Maharaja explained the method of preaching: First learn the verse, then the word to word equivalents and then the translation. Then study the purport. This is how we should preach, so that it can be used in any verse. Recite slowly and clearly, so that the hearers also will be benefited.
For spiritual advancement, one should be materially satisfied, for if one is not materially satisfied, his greed for material development will result in the frustration of his spiritual advancement. If one becomes too greedy, his good qualifications are lost. Therefore the adjustment is that one must try to be fully satisfied with the bare necessities of life and not be greedy. For a devotee to be satisfied with the bare necessities is therefore the best advice for spiritual advancement.
Thus the self-controlled yogi, constantly engaged in yoga practice, becomes free from all material contamination and achieves the highest stage of perfect happiness in transcendental loving service to the Lord.
As Maharaja has taught us (from the Granthraj posting "Convincing the mind to chant"), our mind has to be convinced to chant by factual arguments from shastra. Indeed, Maharaja is most kindly showering upon us evidences from Srila Prabhupada's books, so that we are bound to be liberated if we simply accept these to extinguish our forest fire of material life.
The demigods prayed: O Lord, You never deviate from Your vow, which is always perfect because whatever You decide is perfectly correct and cannot be stopped by anyone
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave His standing order to all conditioned souls in this world that they should do 'Sri Krishna Sankirtan', i.e., Hare Krishna Mahamantra without tenfold offences. If you do this, it will be your greatest service to Supreme Lord. You will get more benefit if you do Harinam before Tulasi.
As by watering the root of a tree one automatically distributes water to the leaves and branches, so by acting in Krishna consciousness one can render the highest service to everyone — namely self, family, society, country, humanity, etc. If Krishna is satisfied by one's actions, then everyone will be satisfied.
The fish swimming in the increasingly shallow water did not at all understand that the water was diminishing, just as foolish family men cannot see how the time they have left to live is diminishing with every passing day.
I don't have any enmity towards these demons and even towards Ravana. I gave him so many chances by sending Hanuman, Angadha to advise for avoiding the battle.
There is no need of great austerities or penances to worship the Lord, for He accepts even a small service offered by His devotee. Thus He is satisfied, and as soon as He is satisfied, the devotee is successful.
