O King, by the passing of time, land and other material possessions are purified; by bathing, the body is purified; and by being cleansed, unclean things are purified. By purificatory ceremonies, birth is purified; by austerity, the senses are purified; and by worship and charity offered to the brahmanas, material possessions are purified. By satisfaction, the mind is purified; and by self-realization, or Krishna consciousness, the soul is purified.
"By showing mercy to all living entities, being satisfied somehow or other and controlling the senses from sense enjoyment, one can very quickly satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Janaardana."
"All the Riks, all the Veda Mantras, all the sacred vibrations have only one meaning, only one meaning, the Supreme Lord who is called Praana since he is the Supreme living force behind all that exists".
We should always keep the saffron colour in our heart. Krishna likes saffron colour. If we do not wear saffron before death, Krishna will wrap us in saffron colour. This happens because when the body is cremated the flames of the fire are saffron in colour and this way Krishna wraps us in saffron.
So whatever be our problem all we have to do is simply surrender unto the Supreme Controller Krishna and His instructions in the form of Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavatam. Thats the only way to be out of all kinds of anxieties.
"This Bhagavata Purana is as brilliant as the sun, and it has arisen just after the departure of Lord Krishna to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc. Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness of ignorance in the age of Kali shall get light from this Purana"
Srila Prabhupada explained in his purport that one has to give up all kinds of sense desire manufactured by mental concoction. Artificially, such sense desires cannot be stopped. But if one is engaged in Krishna consciousness, then, automatically, sense desires subside without extraneous efforts. Therefore, one has to engage himself in Krishna consciousness without hesitation.
When one realizes this war and that the fighting parties are one and the same and the leader involved in both sides is also one and the same and tries to engage in His devotional service, the war is said to be over.
Flow of desires will be there but the objective must be changed. At the moment our desires are wild, running after sense gratification. This we have to avoid. Objective will be satisfaction of Krishna. According to Bhagavad Gita, our life has to be moulded so that Krishna will be satisfied.
By good behaviour and freedom from envy one should counteract sufferings due to other living entities, by meditation in trance one should counteract sufferings due to providence, and by practicing hatha-yoga, pranaayaama and so forth one should counteract sufferings due to the body and mind. Similarly, by developing the mode of goodness, especially in regard to eating, one should conquer sleep.
"My dear Uddhava, the material universe that you perceive through your mind, speech, eyes, ears and other senses is an illusory creation that one imagines to be real due to the influence of maayaa. In fact, you should know that all of the objects of the material senses are temporary."
"O Lord, You are the master of the entire universe. What have You not given to us? You have entered the core of our hearts and dissipated the darkness of our ignorance by Your effulgence. This is the supreme gift. We do not need a material donation."
When the results of their pious activities are exhausted, they fall down by higher arrangement and again come back to this planet, just as any person raised to a high position sometimes all of a sudden falls.
"Cyavana Muni was very irritable, but since Sukanya had gotten him as her husband, she dealt with him carefully, according to his mood. Knowing his mind, she performed service to him without being bewildered."
"I offer my humble obeisances at the lotus feet of my beloved Spiritual Master, who has a smiling lotus like face, is the ocean of all great and exalted qualities, whose words are very sweet, who is always peaceful, who is full of mercy for all the living entities, who is always fully absorbed in Krishna consciousness, is an embodiment of Supreme bliss, and whose heart is always immersed in the nectar of Srimad Bhagavatam."
- Initiation means renunciation of bad things and activities. - Initiation means we stop killing ourselves.
- Initiation means learning what should be done at the time of death. - Initiation means we fully depend upon Him
"The human body, which can award all benefit in life, is automatically obtained by the laws of nature, although it is a very rare achievement. This human body can be compared to a perfectly constructed boat having the spiritual master as the captain and the instructions of the Personality of Godhead as favorable winds impelling it on its course. Considering all these advantages, a human being who does not utilize his human life to cross the ocean of material existence must be considered the killer of his own soul."
"Therefore it is best for me to surrender unto His feet, which alone can deliver one from the miseries of repeated birth and death. Such surrender is all-auspicious and allows one to perceive all happiness. Even the sky cannot estimate the limits of its own expansion. So what can others do when the Lord Himself is unable to estimate His own limits?"
"My Lord, due to Your illusory energy, all living beings in this material world have forgotten their real constitutional position, and out of ignorance they are always desirous of material happiness in the form of society, friendship and love. Therefore, please do not ask me to take some material benefits from You, but as a father, not waiting for the son's demand, does everything for the benefit of the son, please bestow upon me whatever You think best for me."
There is famous proverb - "United we stand - divided we fall." When can we be united ? Only when we see each other as part and parcel of Krishna. But many a times we fail to think in this way. We expect people around us to act in the way we want and when they don't meet our expectations, we start hating them and develop a feeling of aversion towards them.
"O best among the twice-born, it is therefore concluded that the highest perfection one can achieve by discharging the duties prescribed for one's own occupation according to caste divisions and orders of life is to please the Personality of Godhead."
"With the dust of My devotees' lotus feet I desire to purify the material worlds, which are situated within Me. Thus, I always follow the footsteps of My pure devotees, who do not expect anything from anyone, who are silent in material things, who are peaceful, without any feelings of enmity, and of equal disposition everywhere."
