Save yourselves from these misguiding persons and not for anybody's sake but for your own sake. Otherwise the vicious circle of birth and death is awaiting you. How many days you are going to take to decide that you are going to follow the austere path?
Without Prabhupada we are completely bankrupt, more than bankrupt. There are so many bogus people who by immaturely discussing about Radha bhaav and Gopi bhaav who mislead the public and shunt them into the vicious circle of birth and death.
Radha word comes from the word, 'aradhana'. Intensive prayer means Radha. And prayer does not only mean that you have to have darshan or chanting or working. No doubt it is required, but it does not mean only that.
These gopis' bhakti is worth following. Caitanya Mahaprabhu also insists, ramyaa kaacid upaasanaa vrajavadhu-vargena ya kalpitaa. He says that is the highest perfection of life, to follow gopis' bhakti. But bhakti has to be followed, not gopi. This is the thing,
At the time of death, you are not going to take with you a needle, though it is very small. Yamaraj will not allow you to take your body, what to talk of bodily possessions. This is the philosophy, practical philosophy. There is no other way.
Whether you have body or not, whether you have house or not, wife or not, money or not, austerity or not, does not matter at all. Anywhere you are, you are completely unconditional. That should be the case. Any place, that is what Narada Muni got. He was cursed not to stay anywhere for more than three days.
The spiritual existence does not depend upon any condition because that is unconditional life. And in unconditional life, we escape death also. Death is also one conditioning. This is the point. Parikshit Maharaj was not disturbed because he was from the beginning unconditioned.
The real happiness is achieved by spiritual existence. Yes, it is so easy to understand. But there is so much in between the lines. What we do, the spiritual existence also, we, without fail, condition it. Actually spiritual existence is in the unconditional stage.
While it is very natural to do nice devotional service in a favourable surrounding, friendly atmosphere, it becomes a very difficult for one to continue in devotional service when we experience continuous failures and discouragements from people around us.
In the material world we see that anyone who has been fortunately bestowed with lot of wealth, power or position have no pliability and they become very egoistic and rigid. On the other hand here we see the pliable nature of the Supreme Lord in response to transcendental loving service and this is beyond our conception and moves our hearts.
We have to be clear that devotional service or bhakti means there is some inner transformation in our hearts, although there are a lot of external changes involved. The most important part is the transformation inside and for this we need to do a lot of introspection and contemplation which alone can lead to realization.
When we hear this story, we feel a tremendous shift in our way of feeling, thinking, accepting and viewing life. Whatever the situation we face in life, we should develop this habit of reciting this mantra 'Thank you God for everything'. It will help us to shift our view from what we do not have, to what we have in our life.
Bali Maharaj realised that at the time of the death, even the body which is very dear to us will not accompany us. Nor would the bodily relations - like wife, children, family members, friends, society, country would accompany us. So what is the point of being attached to these temporary relations?
The well-wishers like parent, spiritual master or Supreme Lord never take pleasure in chastising their dependants. They chastise or sometimes punish us to help us overcome our anarthas. Bali Maharaj could realise the reason for the merciful appearance of the Lord.
Bali Maharaj could understand that Lord Vamanadev had come in the disguise of dwarf brahmana, in order to protect his opponents - the demigods. Although Lord was supporting his opponents, Bali Maharaj out of love for Supreme Lord, could relish the way Lord had appeared before him to cheat him.
The way Bali Maharaj reacted to this situation is nicely explained by the words 'sthira prajnam". When someone is in powerful, prestigious position - people simply corwd around them and sing his glories. But when by arrangement of providence, one is deprived of his prestigious position -the very same people would immediately criticise and desert him.
Upon seeing the universal form of Lord Vamanadev the demoniac followers of Bali Maharaj were very disturbed. But when the glarify effulgence of Lord Vamanadev's foot touched the Brahmaloka, Lord Brahma along with the sages worshiped His lotus feet and offered wonderful prayers to Him.
Bali Maharaj realised that it is not prudent thing to obey his spiritual master. So after proper deliberation he began to speak. He told Sukracarya that he considered being truthful to the brahmana is more important for him than losing his wealth, going to hell or losing his own life. He didn't want to burden mother earth by telling lies.
On hearing Vamanadev's reasons for asking only three steps of land, Bali Maharaj smiled and promised to grant His wish. At that time his spiritual master Sukracarya, could realise that Vamanadev is none other than Supreme Lord, warned Bali Maharaj not to get cheated by Him. Sukracarya informed him as to how Lord Vamanadev will expand and occupy all the lands.
In response to Lord Vamana dev's request of three steps of land, Bali Maharaj says that Lord Vamanadev was not prudent enough in his request. He says, "I am able to give You an entire island because I am the proprietor of the three divisions of the universe. You have come to take something from me and have pleased me by Your sweet words, but You are asking only three paces of land. Therefore You are not very intelligent."
Krishna is glorified as Varadaraja - Lord of All Benedictions. He can bestow any benediction on anyone. But in this pastime, Krishna is taking the unique role of asking benediction. Lord is atmarama and full in Himself. He lacks nothing and is never in need of anything.
Pleased by Bali Maharaj's behaviour, Lord Vamanadev appreciated him and also glorified the ancestors of Bali Maharaj - Prahlad Maharaj, Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha. Prahlad Maharaj was a pure devotee of the Lord and so it is not surprising to hear about his praise.
how charity should be done as a matter of duty, not with a feeling of grudge. Also charity given to suitable person, at a proper place and time must be done with proper respect and attention and not in neglectful manner. So Bali Maharaj very magnanimously asks Vamanadev as to what He wanted. It is very difficult position to ask/beg for charity from others.
There are many transcendental reasons behind each and every appearance of the Supreme Lord and by the mercy of pure devotees, we get a glimpse of the glories of such appearances. So praying to the lotus feet of Srila Gurudeva and His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada, let us meditate on some of the glories of Lord Vamanadev and His dear devotee Bali Maharaj.
When Bali Maharaj's army conquered the heavenly planets, the demigods leave the heavenly planets. Mother Aditi was very much afflicted by the separation from her sons. Seeing her condition, Kashyapa Muni advised her to please Vasudeva by performing payo-vrata. Pleased by her sincere worship, the Supreme Lord appeared before her.
you have come into the temple, be happy here, be happy in the situation, you have not done anything wrong. This is the most beneficial thing you have done for your own body, for your own soul and for the public at large
