In Srimad Bhagavad Gita 18.40 the Lord asserts that there is no being existing, either here or among the demigods in the higher planetary systems, which is freed from the three modes of material nature.
Realistic is also given here as saara bhuk. One who accepts the substance. That is why Maharaj advised us, those who accept the nature of the world they don't waste time. They concentrate on devotional service.
Parikshit Maharaj took all the advantages of the age of Kali and did not think ill of the age of Kali. When we are put in situations which are not good, sometimes in our work place or in our congregations, the realistic thing is to take advantage of the age of Kali.
The word that is very unique in Bhagavatam is the word - "Realist". Here it is referred as Saaranga, meaning realist like the bees. So the example of the bee is given and Srila Prabhupada uses the example of the fly also.
