Be Misery-proof - Part 8

Be Misery-proof - Part 8

Sudarshana devi dasi

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
This is in conclusion of the transcription of one of the necatrean, powerful, thought provoking Bhagavatam class given by our beloved spiritual master, H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj in Alachua. Let us continue to hear another instructive answer given by Maharaj for adhibhautik problems.

Maharaj: Have you heard of three fold miseries? adhyaatmic is the first one - arising out of our body and mind. And the second misery is adhibhautik misery, inflicted by other living entities. We cannot stop it - whether in the temple or outside the temple, this will go on. Because there is envy you know? The root cause is envy and from envy these things spread. Envy is going to be there all the time because as I told you, we are not sincere devotees. We are not serious devotees yet. We are trying to change our clothes and show others that we are devotees. That sadhu wanted to tell other person that he is a sadhu and is capable of giving knowledge. But he was no sadhu, that is why he was exposed when his goat died. You should remember this example. So you may come across such people, but if devotion is absent, then there is no way that you can stop this misery. And everywhere, whether it is temple community or outside, this dhukh is bound to be there. We have to bear. We have to tolerate as far as we can. Otherwise we change our situation. That is how we should be.

Many times, here if you are working for some company, you don't know about the next day, what will happen to your job. May be the next day you go and they say, "we don't want you." This is very dangerous situation and always we are afraid. So every family must think about their own resources, situation, status, likings and dislikings and try to find out something suitable to them. We were in Denver before we came here and we met a nice couple there. The husband was having a nice job and was well settled in some other place. But somehow they came here and after coming they were repenting again as to why they came there. So whenever we are trying out different things, then in that process, this adhibhautik misery is bound to be there. But if you want to satisfy Krishna, then there is a nice verse in Bhagavatam verse (SB 4.11.13) where the first quality mentioned is titikshayaa

titikshayaa karunayaa / maitryaa caakhila jantushu
samatvena ca sarvaatmaa / bhagavaan samprasidati

"The Lord is very satisfied with His devotee when the devotee greets other people with tolerance, mercy, friendship and equality."

So far you can tolerate, you please don't open your mouth. Krishna doesn't talk and thats why we worship Him. If tomorrow Krishna starts talking, we will all run away (loud laughter). Please follow His example. Don't open your mouth. If it goes beyond your toleration, then may be you can talk something here and there and that too if you open your mouth, then you just chant, "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare" That is the best way to escape, so far as we can tolerate. And Krishna will help you to find out a way to come out of the situation. Hare Krishna. Jai Srila Prabhupada ki Jai!

Jai Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj Gurudev ki Jai ! Our heart felt thanks to Maharaj for all the wonderful, practical nectarean instructions he is giving us.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
