Gurudev: text forty eight.
Gurudev chants the invocation very beautifully and devotees repeat: oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya (3 times)
Gurudev chants the verse 7.7.48 few times and devotees repeat:
tasmād arthāś ca kāmāś ca dharmāś ca yad-apāśrayāḥ
bhajatānīhayātmānam anīhaṁ harim īśvaram

tasmāt — therefore; arthāḥ — ambitions for economic development; ca — and; kāmāḥ — ambitions for satisfaction of the senses; ca — also; dharmāḥ — duties of religion; ca — and; yat — upon whom; apāśrayāḥ — dependent; bhajata — worship; anīhayā — without desire for them; ātmānam — the Supersoul; anīham — indifferent; harim — the Supreme Personality of Godhead; īśvaram — the Lord.

Gurudev: Please repeat. The four principles of advancement in spiritual life — dharma, artha, kāma and mokṣa — all depend on the disposition of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore, my dear friends, follow in the footsteps of devotees. Without desire, fully depend upon the disposition of the Supreme Lord, worship Him, the Supersoul, in devotional service.
Gurudev: Purport by Srila Prabhupada. Please hear
These are words of intelligence. Everyone should know that in every stage of life we are dependent upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore the dharma, religion, which we accept should be that which is recommended by Prahlāda Mahārāja — bhāgavata-dharma. This is the instruction of Kṛṣṇa: sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja. To take shelter of the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa means to act according to the rules and regulations of bhāgavata-dharma, devotional service. As far as economic development is concerned, we should discharge our occupational duties but fully depend on the lotus feet of the Lord for the results. Karmaṇy evādhikāras te mā phaleṣu kadācana: “You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action.” According to one’s position, one should perform his duties, but for the results one should fully depend upon Kṛṣṇa. Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura sings that our only desire should be to perform the duties of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. We should not be misled by the karma-mīmāṁsā philosophy, which concludes that if we work seriously the results will come automatically. This is not a fact. The ultimate result depends upon the will of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In devotional service, therefore, the devotee completely depends upon the Lord and honestly performs his occupational duties. Therefore Prahlāda Mahārāja advised his friends to depend completely on Kṛṣṇa and worship Him in devotional service.

Gurudev: These are the transcendental sounds. There is a distinct difference between the mundane sound and the transcendental sound. The mundane sound will entangle us in the vicious circle of the karmas and it's reactions. As soon as you speak out something which is by nature material, it definitely catches you through the neck. Kṛṣṇa caught Putana. She wanted to kill Kṛṣṇa, her mundane work and she had, she had smeared her breast and she wanted to feed Kṛṣṇa. But as soon as Kṛṣṇa caught her, the reaction should be there. The karma was mundane. And because it was mundane, she screamed then. Kṛṣṇa not only sucked the milk from her breast but her life also. That verse is beautiful in Srimad Bhagavatam. She screamed you know.
sā muñca muñcālam iti prabhāṣiṇī
vivṛtya netre caraṇau bhujau muhuḥ
prasvinna-gātrā kṣipatī ruroda ha
Gurudev: It's a beautiful verse. If you get yourself entangled into this vicious circle of this material mundane sound, then this is the condition you are approaching. When she was caught hold of by Kṛṣṇa, and it was difficult for her to get freed from Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa catches you. As soon as you are entangled in the material mundane sound, Kṛṣṇa catches you. And then you have to sing sā, means Putana. sah in Sanskrit is pullinga , that is masculine gender. And sā is stri linga, that is feminine gender. sā, Putana, "muñca muñcā", "you just leave me, leave me alone." Kṛṣṇa did not come to her. She went to Kṛṣṇa and she picked up Kṛṣṇa. She was in a beautiful form, mystic lady you know. These rakshasas, they are all mystics you know. She could walk in the akash, in the sky. She could take any form she liked. This was her mystic power. And she took a beautiful form, form of the lady. And she put her breast into the mouth of Kṛṣṇa. So she went to Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa did not come. But then, when she went to Kṛṣṇa with the mundane things, Kṛṣṇa caught hold of her. And there was no mistake on the part of Kṛṣṇa. We cannot blame. (apāpa viddham). We can never blame Kṛṣṇa. He does everything. We know and we take comfort in it that, "Oh! It is Kṛṣṇa's will you know." Something bad happens to us and we immediately think, "alright, it's Kṛṣṇa's will." We don't blame Him. "Aye! Why He is doing?" No! But we blame the mundane person. That is definite. Kṛṣṇa was not. Putana was to be blamed because of her mundane activity. And as soon as you engross yourself, as soon as you entangle into yourself, in the self made cocoon, you know the silkworm, they take out the thread and make the cocoon around their body. And they cannot blame anybody, because it is their creation. And then you are entangled into it. You are imprisoned in the cocoon. And as soon as she was imprisoned, Kṛṣṇa will not leave her like that. Now you have come to Me, I will have to catch you. So Kṛṣṇa then caught her. She screamed sā muñca muñcālam iti prabhāṣiṇī, she screamed loudly that please, please, muñca muñcā means "leave, leave me alone, leave me alone".
And what happened while she was screaming? niṣpīḍyamānākhila-jīva-marmaṇi - Such a beautiful word and Srila Prabhupada's labour! He was getting up at 1 am to translate these words for us. We are so very dumb that even we dont have inclination to open his books and see what he has done. And we scream and shout that,0 "since the last twenty years, I am in Iskcon, nothing is happening." Arey man! Nothing is happening is your mistake, because you are entangled into the mundane sounds. You come to the transcendental sounds, come to the lotus feet of Prabhupada and he is there lovingly to guide you.
So she, niṣpīḍyamānākhila-jīva-marmaṇi, all the vital parts of the body were pressurised by Kṛṣṇa. So as soon as Kṛṣṇa catches you, the death approaches in the cruel form to every living entity and particularly to those who are entangled to the material sound. And as soon as the death approaches, all the vital parts of the body are squeezed to the last limit. And only the man or woman who is facing the death can know the terrible condition they are in. And that's why we know, nobody has come back to explain the death experience. But you have seen so many living entities dying and they remain unconscious, because all the vital parts are pressurised by Kṛṣṇa. And when Kṛṣṇa sits on the body, finished. You cannot move anything. And at the moment, my hand is obeying me. But as soon as Kṛṣṇa will sit on this hand, I won't be able to lift it. And then I will be surprised in my helpless condition you know. And, "Ah! Rām bolo bhai Rām." This is the condition.
niṣpīḍyamānākhila-jīva-marmaṇi, you cannot escape, you cannot escape Him. Suppose some dacoit comes here and he has a gun in his hands and he will round us up. Hey! Comeon, Kishore whatever you have, please give me. (Gurudev laughs). He has to give whatever collection. Brajhari may be angry, "Where is the collection?" But it doesn't matter. Brajahari, we will see afterwards. But first we have to satisfy the dacoits. Kṛṣṇa is the supreme dacoit. He tells you, He requests you that sarva-dharmān parityajya,mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja, please concocted, all things you leave it and please, you come to Me. He says. But if you don't obey "umm! mām aprāpyaiva mūdhā janmani janmani. You will not get Me, janmani, janmani, birth after birth., mām aprāpyaiva yānti adhamāmgatim. I will throw you into the demoniac species of life. This is the threat. This is the pistol. And if you don't mind, if you don't believe even then, then He sits on you at the time of death and all your joints are completely stiff. And you are completely helpless and may be the, some living thing is going on here you know, and it is also on the way out. And then we are completely helpless. We cannot do anything and that time is coming for everybody of us. Time is not definite, but death is coming.
If you don't surrender voluntarily, then He will come. Like Putana, He will catch you and then you have to scream. "Hey! Leave me, leave me alone." He says, "No! No! Your time is over. I want to do it now, I will sit on you." And you have to come. niṣpīḍyamānākhila-jīva-marmaṇi, and then vivṛtya netre caraṇau bhujau muhuḥ, then eyes go wide and then the balls go in the forehead. Our eyes are gone. And we see that living entity, is suffering. vivṛtya netre, his eyes becomes wide like this and the balls go up. And the balls are not under our control. At the moment, the balls are under my control. But that time when Kṛṣṇa sits on it, it is under His control. And He, He just pulls the ball up. And I am helpless. What's happening, I don't know, I can't speak. There is no strength left in my mouth to speak the words. vivṛtya netre caraṇau bhujau muhuḥ, and I am just throwing my hands and legs. But there is no life into it. I can't throw them also. They are already thrown by Kṛṣṇa.
Jai! Sri Sri Sri Radha Rasbhiharji ki Jai!!! and prasvinna-gātrā kṣipatī ruroda ha. And then she perspires. The whole body is perspiring and ruroda ha, she tries to scream and cry but that also she cannot do. This is the result of the mundane sound. Instead of this sound, we must come to the transcendental sound. This is the request, satataṁ kirtayanto māṁ yatantaś ca dṛḍha-vratāḥ. With full determination, you should always perform My kirtan. And, and these words, they are more than hundred percent correct. Don't think that He was writing Bhagavad Gita for Himself. No! He doesn't need Bhagavad gita. vedānta-kṛd veda-vid eva cāham, He is the compiler of the Vedas and He is knower of the Vedas. So He knows Bhagavad-Gita fully within His heart. He doesn't want, but He has given us the instructions that, "you jiva, if you want to be happy on this planet, I am sending you son there, so you follow my instructions, satataṁ kirtayanto māṁ, yatantaś ca dṛḍha-vratāḥ."
And kirtan, how can we perform kirtan unless we depend upon Him, unless we know He is something and we please Him? Even our boss, don't we please? If mundane offices and factories are there, they want to please their boss. After a month they must have the salary. And we have to please our boss. The mundane boss, they never pleased. And we try to please them again and again. And he always frowns. This boss is very easily pleased. tuṣyaty āśu janārdanaḥ, tuṣyaty āśu janārdanaḥ - He says in Bhagavatam (SB 4.31.19) and there are three things you have to follow
dayayā sarva-bhūteṣu santuṣṭyā yena kena vā
sarvendriyopaśāntyā ca tuṣyaty āśu janārdanaḥ
He says I am completely satisfied, āśu means immediately. As soon as you follow these three things I am satisfied. And what is that? dayayā sarva-bhūteṣu, we have to be merciful to all the living entities. We were in, driving in America you know. And this American people, at times they are sane you know. Ninety five percent they are not sane. But five percent they are sane. Except devotees you know. So, there was a car going on, there was a banner on the car. And that banner said that how do you feel if your finger is squeezed between the car door and the frame? That was the first sentence. I don't exactly remember the sentences you know. But this was the meaning.That if your finger is squeezed between your car door and the frame, how much pain you feel? So please think about the animals. That was the karmis’ banner. Today I got my finger into the bathroom door and the frame. And it was horrible time, horrible time for two minutes at least. Oh! God I thought that I am just going to pass away before the class. This is, this is our experience, daily experience. And the mundane people, they know this and he is advising us that you please feel that, "How do you feel when your finger is squeezed? And how can you take a knife and cut the neck of chicken or cow or sheep or whatever it is?"
This is, this is the way we should keep our eyes always open. We should keep our eye, mind always open. And you try to take the instructions, good instructions from wherever you can get. Always absorb the good instructions. The sponge, if it is new, it will definitely absorb the water. The old sponge, they become hard and they don't have any absorption capacity. We are becoming, our sponges are becoming old, because we are connected to the destructive mundane activities and mundane sounds. This is our own defect. And unless you come to this transcendental platform, it is very difficult that you get out of this mundane rut. And you have to have the communion with the Lord if you want to above, rise above the mundane platform. You have to have the communion with the Lord at four o’ clock in the morning. Not at nine o’ clock when you get up. No, nine o’ clock, He shuts His mouth. He doesn't speak. He only speaks at four-thirty. And if you want to have communion, you have to be here at four thirty. And if you have to be here at four thirty means, you have to get up at quarter to four at least or four clock if you are very sleepy. And somehow or the other like a donkey, we dip ourselves and then come out and then some kurta is somewhere, some, something is somewhere. "Hey! Hey Maharaj", and then he comes here in a beautiful form you know. Kurta is topsy-turvy, button is here and there. This is, this will not do. This is a mundane activity. This is a mundane activity. Don't perform the mundane activity under the roof of Srila Prabhupada.This is what is today's purport is. Sadhana has got to be there. And one thing we are really, ordinary people, to whom we call karmi you know. I think, "I am a devotee and all others are karmis." We should never use karmi word really. Srila Prabhupada uses, because he is a highly elevated person. So we should try to use, "ordinary people." We are also included in that. So they, they are in moha you know, that is illusion. They don't know that death is coming and the time is taking over them and they are engrossed in rickshaw or this or that, their activity, it doesn't matter at all. They are in moha, but we people are in mahamoha. You know prasadam and maha-prasada? "I like maha-prasada very much." So we are in maha-moha. And what is that maha-moha? "We think that I am a devotee. Aheeee..(Gurudev making funny sounds) ...I have shaved my head, I have long shikha, I have saffron clothes and myself sannyāsi, Heeee....eee," (Gurudev and devotees laugh).
And so, so many things you know, and then I throw myself in mahamoha. (Gurudev sarcastically) "There is no need of mangala arati, Ah...he...I am since last twenty years I am here, I have attended so many mangala aratis, nothing is happening, Kṛṣṇa is not talking. So what is it? let me....and then I have to wait for the call from Australia or from the South Pole or North Pole, whatever it is. Because there are devotees in the North Pole also." So this is how we find out so many things in order to avoid prasadam. This is our mind. Because you are mundane. And as soon as you become mundane, you avoid the spiritual platform. This "four-thirty" is a spiritual activity. Nobody can come here unless he or she is interested in the spiritual platform. Otherwise we will snore up to eight clock or seven clock or whatever it is. People never come here. This is the difference. We are in maha moha. Because we are in the temple, we think there is no need of coming to mangala arati. There is no need of chanting the rounds. Who knows whether I have chanted or not, I can boast I am chanting thirty-two rounds. (Gurudev laughs) It is very easy to tell, but we cannot chant one round very nicely. This is maha moha, this is the mundane activity. And why we are performing this? You please remember. Why are we doing this? Because we are completely, completely faithless towards Kṛṣṇa. We are here somehow or the other.
There may be ordinary people or the devotees, everybody somehow or the other we are here. But coming here, even after coming here, we are not clear about these things because we don't depend upon Kṛṣṇa. And the main quality of a devotee is to fully depend upon Kṛṣṇa for cent percent time, whatever time we have for this body. Every second of our existence, we have to depend upon Him. He supplies water, He supplies air, He supplies our food, He supplies everything to us, clothes and everything He is giving. And for Him, we don't perform anything, that is maha moha. Please you have to come out of maha moha and it is better to be in moha and then finally we shed off the moha also. Unless we do this, it is very difficult for us to survive in the temple for years to come. We have sacrificed our life, but mere sacrifice will not help us, will not help us at all. You get into these things and you go to the bottom of the scriptures.
Srila Prabhupada is very capable. He has explained everything in his books. But we are lazy. And because of our laziness, many times we blame him. This is our tendency. Because we blame everybody and sometimes we catch Prabhupada also. But as soon as Putana wanted to blame Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa caught hold of the neck and Prabhupada is Kṛṣṇa's pure devotee. He also has Kṛṣṇa's potency. And he also catches the neck. He said many times you know that, "it doesn't matter whether you come and go in the temple. It doesn't matter much for me, because I have thousands of disciples and I have so many followers. But it does matter to you. Because you will be completely destroyed." And he was not proud of it. It was not pride that he was telling these things. He was requesting us that, "please for your good you just stick to me." "Me", means in the sense of his books. He was asking us many times that, "why am I writing? Why am I getting up at one o’ clock? You people are not reading. Why am I doing?"
Once there were so many persons in his class you know. Fortunately I was there and after the class so many hands went up to ask questions you know. They wanted to talk to Prabhupada, you know. Everybody loves Prabhupada. so, they wanted to talk to you. So many hands went up. Prabhupada became very angry. He said, "you are rascals." And then he stopped, you know. "No, no, no, no you are not rascals, tenth class rascals." ( Gurudev and devotees laugh). So he was not satisfied by calling rascals you know. And then he gave the reason. "Everything is in my books, because you are not reading, so many hands are up. You rascals, you read my books anyway." (Gurudev laughs) This rascaldom we have to stop. This is our mundane platform to avoid these things. And until and unless you raise yourselves as, as I told you, you have to communicate with Kṛṣṇa. And the way of communication is very nicely described in the pages of Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita and in the life of Prabhupada, through whatever, whichever he has written. Everything here is present. He says communion with the Lord is very much a reality by the transmission of the transcendental sound.

Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare
This is the way to communicate, this is the way to communicate. (Quoting Srimad Bhagavatam verse 12.13.1, Maharaj said)
yaṁ brahmā varuṇendra-rudra-marutaḥ stunvanti divyaiḥ stavair
vedaiḥ sāṅga-pada-kramopaniṣadair gāyanti yaṁ sāma-gāḥ
This is communication, this is communication from Bhagavatam eleventh canto (twelfth canto) first, best, best verse. Then our Prahlāda Mahārāja's verse (SB 7.6.14) is there for our instruction.
kuṭumba poṣāya viyan nijāyur
na budhyate 'rthaṁ vihataṁ pramattaḥ
nirvidyate na sva-kuṭumba-rāmaḥ
very nice, very nice verse. It's beautiful to understand these verses. kuṭumba poṣāya viyan nijāyur, kuṭumba poṣāya, for the maintenance of the family, viyan, you decrease, you waste, you spoil your āyuh, your life. The time allotted to our body, we waste for the maintenance of family. Some brahmachari will stand up and say that, "I don't have family, I don't waste my life, I don't spoil."
(Gurudev speaking to a devotee): jai! Hare Krishna. neendh ā rahā hai? neendh ā rahi hai? Ah?
Devotee: (not audible)
Gurudev: Ah! Jai!!! yeh to bhada accha devotee Kurukshetra ka hai, aur ye commander in chief hai Kṛṣṇa ka. (He is a very good devotee. He is from Kurukshetra. And he is the commander in chief of Kṛṣṇa).You should be careful about him. (Gurudev laughs) So, that, that try to understand this. Brahmacharis will explain that, "I don't have anything to maintain." No, you are maintaining your bad habits. You don't, you don't come for mangal arati, you don't chant your rounds, you don't read Srila Prabhupada's books at least for two hours a day. We are somehow or the other haphazardly doing our service, doing our service. Then we make the garland, one flower is up and another flower is down and the garland is ready and "somehow or the other I must run home or stay in my ashram you know." The people love ashram very much, very much. And our Bombay ashram is beautiful, you know. Like hospital beds there are so many beds. And everytime I went there, somebody was sleeping there. Because that place is very, you know on the fifth floor. Nobody goes there. Hardly some Maharaj come somewhere, sometimes. But nobody goes there. And as soon as the brahmachari is free..boom, and then he sings with his nose.(Gurudev laughs).
So this is, this we have to avoid, completely avoid, kuṭumba poṣāya viyan nijāyur, we are spoiling our existence for this kuṭumba. We have our own kuṭumba, our own cat, cot, own chadar, my own bed, nice cushy you know. "I must have foam bed you know. Because I have to get up at four o'clock in the morning, I must have a very soft bed." And that soft bed then forces us to sleep more. (Gurudev laughs). Because it is soft. It forces us to sleep. Everything is cushy, you know. The quilt is cushy, the bed is cushy and very nice and if you are lucky the wife is smiling. And otherwise I don't know really, what is happening. If you are unlucky then finished. So instead of getting into this rut, please if at all you have to go into the rut also, in order to come out. Unless you go in, how can you come out? So you have to follow Kṛṣṇa’s instructions that after brahmachari ashram, we have to get into grahastha ashram. And we have to do it, in order to come out of it. But always we have to keep Kṛṣṇa and depend upon Kṛṣṇa.
Whatever we do, we cannot do on our own at all. Superintendent, He is the Superintendent, mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ, sūyate sa-carācaram. And this is very clear that as soon as you come to Kṛṣṇa, your life is bound to be completely cleansed, whether you are in grahastha ashram, whether you are in brahmachari ashram or vānaprastha or sannyās. sannyāsas, duḥkham āptum ayogataḥ, even sannyāsi is duḥkham āptum, it will give you so much miserable condition, why? ayogataḥ, because you are not a devotee. If you are not interested in the scriptures even sannyās is great utpāta, is a great disturbance because we, we are here with the living entities for a very less time. Maybe one hour or two hour you know. Then eventually we are locked up in a room and there are four walls. Those four walls will kill us if we are not interested into this. And that is the reason that why we are so many times tired of sannyās, sannyās because we are duḥkham āptum ayogataḥ, sannyās is also very highly elevated position but unless you please utilise into this, that will also create miseries.
And this is the instruction of Kṛṣṇa, kuṭumba poṣāya viyan nijāyur, we are just spoiling the valuable human existence. And then He says, because we are completely spoiling the human existence, we don't have anything left and that living entity sarvatra tāpa-traya-duḥkhitātmā, everywhere he goes, he is suffering from threefold miseries, bodily miseries, then other living entities inflict miseries and the Kṛṣṇa given miseries. All these miseries trouble us. And then, even then he is troubled so much, but even then, he does not develop a distaste to the material activities. That is our defect. We are suffering, all of us are suffering, but we like it, like a donkey. He, he goes behind the she-donkey and requests pa...pa..pa..(Gurudev making funny sounds sarcastically), he has his own language. Donkey’s language is a completely beautiful language. Because she-donkey is very pleased. As soon as she-donkey is pleased, she gives a return gift to him, a kick on his head, face. And as soon as he kicks, he's kicked, the blood is coming out of the face. He says, "Oh! God I will never follow this she-donkey now." He walks two steps and he forgets, forgets the kicks. Again he...he...he...he...( Gurudev makes funny sounds) and again a kick, again blood is flowing like anything.
If you see that donkey, I don't know if you have seen that donkey’s. We have got some pictures of that donkeys who are bleeding you know. Ah! We will show you. But this is how in our villages we see even now donkey’s punishment. And we are donkeys at the best of our existence in the material world. We have got so many kicks, we are bleeding, but then there is no distaste. And unless we develop the real distaste for the material activities, you will never come to Kṛṣṇa. And Kṛṣṇa will never talk to you at four-thirty. He will reject you. And as soon as He rejects you may be in the temple for fifty years, doesn't matter. But you have to come back again. Maybe if you are lucky, śucīnāṁ śrīmatāṁ gehe, maybe you come back to a yogi’s house or the rich person’s house. This is how He threatens us, He requests us. It is better to voluntarily surrender to these activities and if you want to elevate, please then don't leave these scriptures for a single second. And Prabhupada will definitely pick us up. Otherwise we are completely gone. There are so many things to be told.
We had one very nice example, how the people are elevated you know from the hellish condition.- narakād api uddharāmyaham, we were in Radhadesh and what was his name that Yugoslavian boy who is druggist, Ah! Dhruv, Dhruv? Pradhruk, Pradhruk, this is our Prahlāda, Prahlāda's name is also Prahlāda you know. hlāda means blissful and Prahlāda means completely blissful. You know pra means greater. You know pitamaha is grandfather. Pra-pitamaha means great, great grandfather. That's how hlāda means anand and it is beautiful you know. This, Hiranyakasipu and Kayadhu had four children, four male children and one daughter. And all these children their name ended with hlāda. You know what is the first? Samlāda, Samlāda, you know very good anand, very good blissful nature. Then Anuhlāda, you follow anand. Then, then only Hlāda, anand, and Prahlāda, all these are four. And Simhika is the daughter who was married to Vipracitti, demon Vipracitti and Simhika had Rahu as their son. Rahu we know. This is how Hiranyakasipu had four male sons.
This Pradhruk, this Yugoslavian boy, we met him in Radhadesh in Belgium. And he came to us you know. He knew that we were talking something about the practical life. And he came and related his experience you know. And this is a completely true story. This Pradhruk was a celebrated druggist. The whole town knew that Pradhruk is a lost case. And so they made him the president of the druggist society. Because he is the right president, he is taking so much drugs. Our president, because he is performing kirtan, he is the president of Bombay temple. We don't make anybody as Bombay temple president. Those who perform kirtan, those who are serious about sadhana we make them the president. So this druggist also was made the president of the druggist society. And Pradhruk, everybody in the town knew. As soon as they heard about Pradhruk, Ah! He is a lost case. And so many, what is this opium and you know ganja, what do you call it? Narcotics. You know they are very much prominent in western world. I don't know here also it is hidden. But everywhere it is there. And he was taking narcotics, all these drugs. And during the day about six,seven times he had to depend on this dose. And he was relating his experience, that he was so very addicted that he will do anything to get it. He was so very, because his life depended upon this drug. And he would do anything to get these things. And what he did that he will steal, he will borrow or beg or whatever he does, but he must have this. Then what happened one day accidentally how this name changes you know. Just

immediately changed his life. It so happened that his wife, accidentally went to the market. And in the second hand tape shop, she got one tape and that was Prabhupada's chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa. He was lucky, he was lucky and she was playing that because she knew that this is a lost case, there is nothing. So we should hear Indian music, she wanted to buy indian music and she didn't have much money. So she wanted to go to a second hand shop. And somehow or the other, somebody might have left somewhere. This is our sankirtan you know. We go distribute tapes or books and it works like this. And then he heard the tape. He heard the tape, So it was pleasing. He didn't, he didn't know what it was, but it was pleasing, he told. And somehow or the other as soon as he heard Kṛṣṇa's names he got some intelligence you know. He said, I should keep on hearing instead of this drugs. But he was addicted, completely addicted. So what happened, somehow or the other Kṛṣṇa's mercy and Prabhupada’s mercy, really that he could decide that whatever happens, I will just not go to the drugs at all. And to stop the drugs, is the horrible thing. You nearly die if you don't take. That much you are addicted. So then what he did, he completely stopped everything. And he said, that he was not able to walk. He fell down, broke his head and hands and so many times. Now that man is a devotee in Radhadesh temple, very elderly devotee and very nicely serving. He said I was very good as a dead person. So it is better to die for Kṛṣṇa. And he is serving in that temple very nicely. This is his experience. Please don't undermine the influence of names of Kṛṣṇa and the instructions of Prabhupada. Please somehow or the other we pray Radha Rasabihariji that He should give us sufficient intelligence to be determined to follow sadhana and His instructions to the last letter.
