Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances! All Glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

Our beloved Gurudev HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj said that of all the prayers in Srimad Bhagavatam, there is one set of prayers that we cannot claim not to know, because everyone of us chanted these prayers and that is the Jantu's prayers in Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 3, Chapter 31. We have all chanted these prayers in the womb of our mothers.

These prayers are so amazing to study that in these prayers, we can have a glimpse of all the wonderful qualities of a pure soul. The prayers express acceptance, repentance, gratitude, determination, clarity of intelligence, tolerance, appreciation and so on. It is our misfortune that being overcome by the illusory energy of the Lord, all these wonderful qualities remain covered and by chanting these prayers again, we should make a sincere effort to revive our original position. Here we are mainly going to see the three As we have forgotten and that is Acceptance,Adjustment and Appreciation. These qualities when possessed and practised can make a lot of difference in our lives thus enriching it and make it blissful.

1. Accepting without condemning: All our difficulties in life are because we are unable to accept things, people and situations as they come in our lives. When we have the attitude of acceptance life becomes blissful. In the very first canto of Srimad Bhagavatam, we see Parikshit Maharaj so gracefully accepting the curse to die in seven days and his acceptance made available the precious gift of Srimad Bhagavatam to everyone and without being agitated he reached the highest destination. We, in the womb of our mothers have expressed this acceptance of our condition, very beautifully in Srimad Bhagavatam verse 3.31.12:

jantur uvāca
tasyopasannam avituṁ jagad icchayātta-
nānā-tanor bhuvi calac-caraṇāravindam
so ’haṁ vrajāmi śaraṇaṁ hy akuto-bhayaṁ me
yenedṛśī gatir adarśy asato’nurūpā

The human soul says: "I take shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appears in His various eternal forms and walks on the surface of the world. I take shelter of Him only, because He can give me relief from all fear and from Him I have received this condition of life, which is just befitting my impious activities."

Here the significant words are 'anurūpā gati ' which means, 'a befitting condition that I am accepting on account of my impious activities'. Instead of accepting, we condemn and blame situations and people and become so much disturbed. It is not 'something' that disturbs us. It is the non-acceptance of 'something' that disturbs us. Acceptance equals bliss. There are so many unknown factors beyond our control, that cause things in our life, changing all our plans and we intensely pray to the Lord to enable us to see His hand in everything, remembering this beautiful verse we have chanted. It is not easy, but let us endeavour.

Krishna willing, let us look at the other two qualities in the ensuing offering.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
