Duty of a Sane person

Duty of a Sane person

Sajjana Priya Krishna Das

Dear Prabhujis and maathajis,

Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble pranams! All Glories to Srila
Prabhupada and Gurudev!

Recently we witnessed a large scale of calamity happening around us(Tsunaami) and most recently in an unfortunate way an young devotee of Abudhabi passed away in a tragic accident in India leaving behind his parents who are sincere and dedicated devotees. Such a devoted family being put into such a traumatic tragedy disturbed me very much. My mind was so much agitated and I could not do my sadhana attentively.

The Granthraj Srimad Bhagavatham gave a wonderful answer to my agitated mind

vipadha santu taah sasvat
tatra tatra jagad guro
bhavato darsanam yat syaad
apunar bhava darsanam
(Srimad Bhagavatham - 1.8.25)

"I wish that all those calamities would happen again and again so that we could see You again and again, for seeing You means that we will no longer see repeated births and deaths."

This Prayer of Queen Kunti is really astonishing to ponder over and I do not have the courage to pray to the Lord like her. Srila Prabhupad writes a powerful statement in the purport which additionally reinforced and convinced my obstinate mind.

'This material world is certified by the Lord in the Bhagavad gita as a dangerous place full of calamities. Less intelligent persons prepare plans to adjust to those calamities without knowing the nature of this place is itself full of calamities. They have no information of the abode of the Lord, which is full of bliss and without trace of calamity. The duty of sane person, therefore, is to be undisturbed by worldly calamities, which are sure to happen in all circumstances. Sufferings of all sorts of unavoidable misfortunes, one should make progress in spiritual realisation because that is the mission of human life. The spirit soul is transcendental to all material calamities.

This statement of Prabhupad convinced my mind as follows:

I have to become a sane person - That means Presently I am insane. To become a sane person means to understand that:
1. Spirit soul is transcendental to all material calamities.
2. Calamities is sure to happen in all circumstances .
3. Spiritual realisation is the mission of human Life.

Once I understand and realise these three statements then definitely that is every probability that one day, I can become undisturbed by worldly calamities.

I pray to Srila Gurudev, Prabhupad and Lord Sri Krishna, for their mercy to this most useless and wretched and insane soul to become a sane person in all circumstances.

Srila Prabhupad ki Jai !
Srimad Bhagavtham Granthraj ki Jai !!

Your humble servant,
Sajjana Priya Krishna Das,
