Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Mathajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Gurudev.
In our normal day to day life, we meet different living entities in different modes and depending upon time, place and circumstances and our past activities we are tend to face some sort of miseries due to others. Though in the current scenario, the misery might appear to have been forced upon us by others for no mistake of ourself, we neither understand the hand of the Lord behind those incidents nor any of the above facts. "Forgive and forget" the mistakes done by others - is a quote which sometimes becomes impractical to follow when we see that person causing trouble is not even regretting for the mistakes. Another point ,we need to be cautious of in such situations is that we may tend to think too good of ourselves which in due course of time might develop pride and over-confidence in ourselves which are great pit-falls in the path of devotional service as well as performance of prescribed duties.
Today is the auspicious day of appearance of Lord Varaha and when I was going through Srimad Bhagavatham Canto 3 chapter 13 titled "The Appearance of Lord Varaha" , the mayaamaya (all merciful) Lord clarified my doubts through the following verse (3.13.49)
tasmin prasanne sakalaashishaam prabhau
kim durlabham taabhir alam lavaatmabhihi
ananya-drshtyaa bhajataam guhaashayah
svayam vidhatte sva-gatim parah paraam
"Nothing remains unachieved when the Supreme Personality of Godhead is pleased with someone. By transcendental achievement one understands everything else to be insignificant. One who engages in transcendental loving service is elevated to the highest perfectional stage by the Lord Himself, who is seated in everyone's heart."
All things are possible for the Supreme Lord, and so though we may not possess the quality of doing good to people who harm us, when we engage ourselves in loving service of the Lord and try to please Him, we would be able to forget the miseries inflicted upon us and we would realise that all these quarrels and miseries are all insignificant and by His mercy we would be able progress in the path of serving Him. Srila Prabhupada has nicely mentioned in the purport to the above verse as follows
'If one serves faithfully, there is no possibility of frustration because the Lord Himself takes charge of the devotee's advancement. The Lord is seated in everyone's heart, and He knows the devotee's motive and arranges everything achievable.'
Now comes the question as how to engage in Lord's loving service ?
H.H. Mahavishnu Maharaj used to quote in his lectures, "The sound of Bhagavat Gita and Bhagavatham should always be echoing in our household. There should not any other unwanted sounds. Only such circumstances are conducive for peaceful household and the growth of Krishna conscious children."
By the mercy of acharyas and Supreme Lord, we have so many lectures and so many facilities to hear them. So we must make it a point to listen to atleast one lecture each day either while taking prasadam at home or while performing regular household activities. As Srila Prabhupada specifies in the final line of the purport, 'One merely has to become sincere in his purpose, and then the Lord is there to help in every way.'
When we attempt sincerely, we are sure to be lifted out of this ocean of miseries just like how Lord Varaha lifted Mother Earth from the ocean.
Sri Sri Lord Varaha Appearance day ki Jai !
Thank you very much,
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
