Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

This is in continuation of the previous offerings transcribing the class by our beloved God brother HG Viraja Krishna prabhuji in Chennai on Brahma's prayers for creative energy (Srimad Bhagavatam verses 3.9.22-25). We were seeing Prabhuji's explanation on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 3.9.22 and we shall see further.

4. Appreciate others' devotional service: Brahmaji is praying in this verse (SB 3.9.22) with submission to Krishna that, "You are too big. I am too small. Without Your guidance what can I do and how can I do the work?" So here Brahmaji is asking for introspection. To do any work we require knowledge and training. In every endeavor we have to introspect and see whether that service we are doing is pleasurable to Krishna or not. If someone does the service better than us, we should take pleasure in others doing that devotional service. Kunti Maharani says in Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.8.36

shrnvanti gaayanti grnanty abhikshnashah
smaranti nandanti tavehitam janaah
ta eva pashyanty acirena taavakam
bhava-pravaahoparamam padaambujam

"O Krishna, those who continuously hear, chant and repeat Your transcendental activities, or take pleasure in others' doing so, certainly see Your lotus feet, which alone can stop the repetition of birth and death."

Srila Prabhupada very nicely translates 'nandanti' as 'take pleasure in others' doing so'. Generally the tendency of the materialistic men is if someone is doing some nice work, envy comes. But a real devotee, if he sees someone doing nice devotional service, even if he is not able to do it, he appreciates. Just by appreciating, he gets the same result as doing that service. There is no room for envy. Krishna does not tolerate that. This is introspection.

George Harrison dedicated his life to music, but in a Krishna conscious way. He helped Srila Prabhupada so much. He gave money for printing 'Krishna' book. There is another personality called Michael Jackson. When Krishna book was presented to him, seeing the cover picture, he asked, "Who is this boy with these young ladies?" Devotees replied, "This is the Supreme Lord Krishna." Jackson said, "Remove him and put me there." He wanted to be the enjoyer and we can see the end that he met. Jackson in terms of popularity and the number of records sold was definitely bigger than George Harrison, but would you say that Jackson was successful? Not at all. How did he die? He died of drug overdose miserably and he was tainted with accusations. On the other hand, Harrison dedicated the results of his work to Krishna, to Srila Prabhupada. When Srila Prabhupada was on his death bed, it is said that he took a ring out of his finger and gave to a devotee and said, "Please give this ring to George Harrison and tell him that I am eternally grateful to him for his contribution in helping me to spread Krishna consciousness." Imagine a pure devotee of the Lord thinking this on his death bed about a personality. This is because George Harrison was surrendered to Srila Prabhupada and he gave his heart and soul to him.

Prabhuji went on to explain the next prayer of Brahmaji and Krishna willing, we shall see the same in the ensuing offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Gurudev and Srila Prabhupada,
