Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupad and Srila Gurudev!

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Narada Muni - The Father of Devotional Service". In the previous offering, we have seen Devarshi Narada Muni's instruction to Pracetas about inevitability of devotional service. Let us continue to hear further instructions from him.

18. Cause of all causes: Narada Muni wonderfully glorifies Lord Krishna in Srimad Bhagavatam 4.31.18

tenaikam aatmaanam ashesha dehinaam
kaalam pradhaanam purusham paresham

sva tejasaa dhvasta guna pravaaham

aatmaika bhaavena bhajadhvam addhaa

"Because the Supreme Lord is the cause of all causes, He is the Supersoul of all individual living entities, and He exists as both the remote and immediate cause. Since He is aloof from the material emanations, He is free from their interactions and is Lord of material nature. You should therefore engage in His devotional service, thinking yourself qualitatively one with Him."

Srila Prabhupada says in the purport that three types of causes namely time, the ingredient and the creator are found in the Personality of Godhead. Narada Muni therefore advises the Pracetas to worship the direct cause, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Supreme Personality of Godhead is never affected by the material qualities, although they all emanate from His spiritual energy. Those who are really conversant with this knowledge can utilize everything for the service of the Lord  because nothing in this material world is unconnected with the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

From the above we understand that Supreme Lord Sri Krishna is the only one we need to know about and nobody else, because Krishna is the direct and remote cause of our existence. Therefore, devotional service is the ultimate bridge that connect us to Him, and rare opportunity through which we understand our Supreme Father. Lord is ocean of mercy. Every moment of our life we live, is Krishna's mercy. Despite our rebellious nature, uncontrollable mind and sense enjoyment propensity, Krishna has placed us in tolerable conditions with all the necessities of life, giving us a chance to at least acknowledge His unparallel compassion. Everything is connected to Him. Let us call Him feelingly. Brahma Upanishad (4.1) says

eko devah sarva bhuteshu / sarva vyapi sarva bhutantaraatma
karmadhyakshah sarva bhutaadivaasah / saakshi cetah kevalo nirgunas ca

"The one Supreme Lord lives hidden inside all created things. He pervades all matters and sits within the hearts of al living beings. As the indwelling Supersoul, He supervises their material activities. Thus, while having no material qualities Himself, He is the unique witness and giver of consciousness."

Krishna willing, we will learn more about the Narada Muni's instruction to Pracetas in the next offering.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
