Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

The following is transcription of class given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj to Gurukul girls in Alachua.

We have to prepare ourselves to face the world. After end of school, you girls also will have to leave school. You cannot be like this here forever. So please till you are here, try to take this process with you. Do you know Sudama? (Children say 'yes') He and Krishna were in the same gurukul. They were friends and were doing every service together. Once their guru-mata asked them to bring some woods from the forest, and they went to cut the woods. It was pretty evening time. And there was big rainstorm. But even then they didn't come back to the ashram. They finished their duty and then they came back. Their guru was very angry with his wife, "Why did you send the children in the storm?" So this is how in gurukul, They had a very nice time. But as soon as the time came to leave the gurukul, Krishna and Sudama had to leave.

And it was Krishna's arrangement that Sudama was always in difficulty.  He could not provide anything for his wife and children. He was brahman. So after long time, Sudama's wife requested him, "Please, you always say that Krishna is your friend. So you please go and see Him. He is king. May be He will give you something." Krishna was in Vrindavan for 11 years as cow-herd boy. After childhood, in boyhood he was taken to Mathura. He was invited by Kamsa and then He stayed there for 14 years. So He spent 25 years in these places and the rest of 100 years, He was in Dwaraka. Sudama was in Sudamapuri, which is known now as Porbandhar. Porbandhar is about 100 km away from Dwaraka. So Sudama was staying in that village and Krishna was king in Dwaraka. So Sudama's wife knew that Krishna is king and if He is happy, He will definitely help them. So she forced Sudama to go and see Krishna. So Sudama said, "I will go and see Him, but I will not ask anything from Him." Wife said, "Don't worry. If you don't ask for anything, you just go and see your friend."

So Sudama was very happy to have darshan of Krishna. That is how our bhakti should be. It should be without any motives. Sudama did not want to ask anything. Krishna knows what we wants and He supplies. This is the secret of bhakti. You people go daily to the temple and have darshan of the Lord and recite the verses nicely. Krishna will be very pleased and you will be very peaceful. This is one of the best-gurukuls. So please continue this seva and whenever you are grown-up, please look to the gurukul always. Help this gurukul, in every capacity you can. So Sudama eventually wanted to see Krishna. But he was sure that he should not ask anything. Because if you ask, then it becomes a business deal. He started to go to Krishna and his wife thought, that they must give something to Krishna. There was nothing in the house. His wife was very poor. They did not have anything at home. So she went to the neighbouring house and borrowed little amount of puffed rice. She tied the puffed rice in a old cloth and gave it to Sudama to give to Krishna.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
