Relationship with Krishna - Part 6

29th Jan 2015
Sudarshana devi dasi

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances! All Glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

This is in conclusion of the previous offering titled, "Relationship with Krishna" wherein we were hearing the nectarean Bhagavatam class given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on verse 3.16.7, in Singapore on 1st January 2002. In previous offering we heard from Maharaj the below points.

1. Be with Bhagavatam.
2. Be with Krishna and Lakshmi will follow.
3. Scarcity is good.
4. Be a Trustee.

5. Serve the Devotees: As soon as you do the austerity, then we can become devotee. And if you become devotee, then what does Krishna say here, "I serve their feet". He says in Srimad Bhagavatam verse 3.16.7, "Because I am the servitor of My devotees, My lotus feet have become so sacred that they immediately wipe out all sin". How did He get the capacity to wipe out all sins? By serving the devotees. So is it not that we have to serve the devotees? If Krishna has to serve to obtain this capacity, then what about us? But we feel, " I can wipe out anything!" (laughter) And we simply fall down. How long are you going to be in the air? This is the mistake we are committing. Please, Krishna says this. Is it wrong? And if it is not wrong, then we should be coming to our senses. Isn't it? We are insane really and this is sanity. So whether we have something or not it doesn't matter. We must always hanker after this - becoming an unflinching devotee of Krishna.

Every verse from Bhagavatam, you should test whether it is nashta praayeshu abhadreshu. Whether your bhakti becomes naishtiki - firm. These two things must come from every verse. One is that all our inauspicious ideas should vanish and the other is our devotional service should be firm. If these two things are not achieved by any verse, then that verse does not belong to Bhagavatam. Otherwise what is the meaning of nityam sevayaa? And nityam bhagavata sevayaa - there are two meanings for bhagavata as we know. One is book bhagavata and other is person bhagavata. So person bhagavata also comes in front of you, then he should also be having these two things. By his presence or our presence, we should be able to wipe out the inauspicious things from the other minds or our minds at least. And secondly we must have the capacity to make their bhakti firm. Otherwise what is the meaning of being bhagavata - He is not bhagavata, he is somebody else. If he is somebody else, then we should not touch him. Otherwise he will pass on his own qualities to us. Please remember this.

We all have some good quality to serve and Krishna also serves. So who are we? Maya is nothing else. But when we feel that, "I have to be served", then that is maya. When we think that, "I have to serve", then we are out of maya. That is what austerity means. Isn't it? Austerity means to always serve. As soon as you sit down and expect somebody else to serve you, then you are in maya. Srila Prabhupada writes very clearly this point and this verse supports Prabhupada's writing. Please, we are not fanatics of Prabhupada. But except him, there is nobody who could have given you right knowledge. Nobody. Take it from me. Without him we would have been lost. That is why please leave everything and go to him, somehow or the other. Whenever you have time, you keep some of his small book and learn by-heart his purports. How nice he is writing! Just in few sentences, the whole thing is very clear.

Let us read the translation again. The Lord continued: "Because I am the servitor of My devotees, My lotus feet have become so sacred that they immediately wipe out all sin, and I have acquired such a disposition that the goddess of fortune does not leave Me, even though I have no attachment for her and others praise her beauty and observe sacred vows to secure from her even a slight favor."

Hare Krishna ! Jai Srila Prabhupada ki Jai !

Today 29th January 2015 is a very auspicious day, because it marks the 5th year of our spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj's departure to Goloka Vrindavan. Though Maharaj's physical presence, loving smile and encouraging phone calls, caring and instructive chastisements, personal guidance are all very much missed by all those who were touched by Maharaj, he continues to eternally live, guide, help and serve all of us. We are eternally indebted to Maharaj for all his love and care he showered upon and us and for making our lives meaningful. Our heartfelt thanks to Maharaj for his continual presence in our lives. We seek the blessings of Maha bhagavata His Divine Grace Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, Jagat Guru His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada and most merciful Lord Krishna, so that we continue the legacy of bhagavatam, legacy of bhakti and thereby have loving relationship with all living entities and Krishna.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
