Feel the Pain of Others - Part 1

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

Today is the most auspicious occasion of the disappearance day of our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj. Exalted pure devotees like Maharaj are eternal associates and resident of the spiritual world, but out of genuine compassion for suffering souls like us, they voluntarily visit the material world. Feeling the pain of living entities, they give the greatest medicine of Krishna rasāyanam and help us to go back to lotus feet of Supreme Lord. Following is transcription of class given by His Holiness in Minneapolis on the subject of how we should genuinely feel the pain of others and try to help them. Now let us begin to hear from Maharaj.

1. Always Remember Krishna "Land is the energy of Krishna. Energy and energetic are non-different. This is the thing to be remembered. Every time you see grain of rice in front of you, you remember Krishna. Every time we see grain of wheat or chappati in front of us, we remember Krishna. The vegetables, grains, herbs, medicinal plants are all nourished by the moon-shine. Moon shine is nothing else, but the reflection of Krishna's effulgence which is known as brahma-jyoti. Krishna is blackish blue, like new water laden cloud. Very beautiful. When we look at Krishna, so much unlimited effulgence is flowing out of His body that we don't see Him as black, but as white. That's why many times we see Him as marble deities. White Krishna. By constitution, He is not white. megha śyamala komalāṅgau - Shyam is not black, not blue - but in between them - very beautiful colour. That is Meghaśyam - Ghanshyam.

Ghanshyam is one of His names. Every time we call Ghanshyam, we remember Krishna. This is how, whole life should be Krishna-ised. Instead of that we have "coca-colaised" our lives. (laughter) (Jokingly pointing to a devotee Maharaj says) How many times  have you drunk coca-cola ? May be 1000 times or truckload of it? Please stop that. Depend upon pure water and come to the moon-shine and sun-shine. Krishna says in Bhagavad-Gita, "If you want to see me, see the sun-shine and moon shine." Daily we see sunshine here fortunately. We should actually thank Krishna for sending the sun to Minneapolis. Again after two months, the suns goes far away from us and it will be very cold here. On the same planet, how many varieties of climates we have? You go to Canada, it is full of snow, again north, North pole - it is full of snow. If you go to the south, near the equator, it is simmering heat. So tropical forests are there.

On this planet, all these varieties are created, by Krishna's bodily effulgence, which is known as Brahmajyoti and He has very kindly allowed it to be reflected through the moon planet and the sun planet. Otherwise we would be in darkness completely. If sun doesn't rise one day, three fourth of the population will be leaving this planet - They may go to hell or Goloka Vrindavan. This is our condition. We fully depend upon Krishna, every second of our existence. And not only that we depend upon the moonshine and sunshine, but every time you take breath, the breathing in capacity is bestowed upon by the Super-soul Krishna. Our soul also is useless for that. And then again breathing out is also Super-soul.

Suppose He decides that we should not breathe out, then immediately the breathing stops and we say that the person is gone. Without Him, we cannot survive and every breath, we should remember Him. Why should we avoid glorification of Krishna? Why are we wasting things in so many nonsense things. We behave as if we are enemies of each other. Its' always like a storm. As soon as we see other living entity, we are inimical to him or her. You don't have the idea that, "Rascal, you are surviving because of Krishna's mercy. Thats why you have the breath. Make the best use of breath. Help the living entity." tapyante loka tāpena. In Srimad Bhagavatam verse 8.7.44,

tapyante loka-tāpena sādhavaḥ prāyaśo janāḥ
paramārādhanaṁ tad dhi puruṣasyākhilātmanaḥ

It is said that great personalities almost always accept voluntary suffering because of the suffering of people in general. This is considered the highest method of worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is present in everyone's heart.

Indeed Maharaj himself is shining example for the above verse. Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj Tirobhav Mahotsav ki Jai! Srila Prabhupada ki Jai! Srila Gurudev ki Jai!

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
