Feel the Pain of Others - Part 4

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Feel the Pain of Others", which is a transcription of class given by HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj in Minneapolis. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj the below points:

1) We must always remember Krishna
2) Feel other's pain and help them.

Maharaj very nicely explained as to how satsang does not mean just coming together and eating prasadam and leaving. But we should genuinely feel the pain of others and help them. Now we shall hear further nectar from Maharaj.

2) Feel other's pain and help them: "We are chanting. Why ? Because we are transforming ourselves into nice devotee life. So far we are animals. We didn't care for suffering of anybody. How can we eat when other living entities are suffering? Please, please, please. Because we very well know that every jīva is part and parcel of Krishna. That is our theory. Bhagavad Gita says that. Krishna says that. So if we really trust this, then is it not our duty to go to the living entity and relieve their suffering? Again Bhagavatam says that it is 'param ārādhanaṁ tad dhi' - That is the best mode of worship. Krishna says to Uddhava in SB 11.29.19,

ayaṁ hi sarva-kalpānāṁ sadhrīcīno mato mama
mad-bhāvaḥ sarva-bhūteṣu mano-vāk-kāya-vṛttibhiḥ

Indeed, I consider this process—using one's mind, words and bodily functions for realizing Me within all living beings—to be the best possible method of spiritual enlightenment.

"I have shown you so many ways to attain Me", Krishna says to Uddhava. "But please remember that this one way is the best way." And what is that one way? "mad-bhāvaḥ sarva-bhūteṣu In all the living entities you must see Me. Thats the best way to attain Me." It is not that I keep differentiate here and there and sit nicely in sofa set when other living entities are suffering in front of me. No. We have to perform penance. We have to forego our eating. That is how this Rantideva forego his eating. And then another beggar came. "I was hungry for last few months." He wanted some food. So the remaining food he gave to him. His wife and children were having food. Then another candala walked in with his 10 dogs and said, "Me and my dogs are very hungry. So please give me something to eat. We are hungry since last 6 months." So he gave them his wife's food and children's food. Then again he was to break the fast by drinking water. But another shudra came and said, "I am very thirsty. Since last few months, I didn't get water. Please give me water." So he gave the water to him. This is how he got rid of everything and he starved again.

We are not going to die till Krishna wants us to die. rākhe kṛṣṇa māre ke? If Krishna wants us to survive, who is going to kill us? But we are committing a big blunder by thinking that source of income and source of maintenance is one. "If we have source of income, then we will survive" - This is completely wrong philosophy. It is wrong a fact. Source of income will be there. But money will not circulate the blood in the body."

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
