No Counteraction is the Best Counteraction - Part 8

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "No Counteraction is the Best Counteraction" which is transcription of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 7.6.2 in Sri Sri Radha NeelMadhav dham, Rajkot. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that we must have good tendencies. Now we shall hear further.

 8 Be Grateful:
Gurudev: (Maharaj asked the devotees to read the purport for verse 7.6.2 and then began to speak.)

Jai! That's it. Very few verses we remember always. Those verses at least should be meditated.

nārāyaṇaṁ namaskṛtya naraṁ caiva narottamam
devīṁ sarasvatīṁ vyāsaṁ tato jayam udīrayet

Before reciting this Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, which is the very means of conquest, one should pay obeisances unto Nara-nārāyaṇa Ṛṣi, the supermost human being, unto mother Sarasvatī, the goddess of learning, and unto Śrīla Vyāsadeva, the author.

So this is gratefulness. This verse teaches us how to be grateful, why we need to offer obeisances. You should be grateful to them for giving us the real knowledge. And one thing is definite that in different species of existence, we cannot be grateful to anybody because we are in dark. The cow cannot be grateful to anybody, elephant cannot be grateful to anybody. No other species at all. Only human species, we can show our gratefulness.

It is krtajna. It is known in Sanskrit as krtajna. krtajna is the best quality. But as I told you in this whirlpool of material existence we should try to put Bhagavatam into practice. So we should always be krtajna. You know our parents have done so much for us. Why can't we show our gratefulness? Our teachers have done so much, community has done so much, saints and sages have done so much, how can we not be grateful? I don't understand really. Please.

Gurudev: narayan and nar, both, the devotee is there and super most human being is there. Both of them are there. Nar and Narayan, they are all part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa. So you can be Kṛṣṇa conscious. nara, narayan rishi, that is the meaning. So this is how the gratefulness must be there.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Krishna Rati devi dasi
