Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj Vyasa Puja 2016 - Part 22

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled "Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj Vyasa Puja 2016", wherein we were hearing some of the glorifications of Maharaj, which were shared by the devotees in Sri Sri Radha Neel Madhav dham, Rajkot on the auspicious occasion of his Vyasa Puja.

In the previous offering we heard HG Anand Prabhuji how he prayed to Maharaj to help him improve his chanting and how by Maharaj's mercy he is able to wake up daily at 2:30 am and chant his rounds. Now we shall continue to hear the thoughts shared by HG Devakinandan Prabhuji.

HG Devakinandan Prabhuji: "For those who don't know about Anand Prabhuji, based on my frequent visits here as well as what I have heard from Vaishnavseva Prabhu, his sadhana is impeccable. What is the important lesson we have to take away from him is that, he has not even physically met Maharaj, never had a single day's physical association with our spiritual master. Some of us may be sitting here saying or thinking that we had so much time with Maharaj. But Maharaj told me that even the mosquito has time with the king. Mosquito is sitting on the lap with the king, very initimate and close with the king, travelling with him all the time. (laughter) Maharaj said, "But what is the point? Mosquito is only giving trouble to the king. I don't want my disciples to be like mosquitoes. Those who are serving and travelling with me, but not following the mood I have given and doing whatever they want to do and later saying, 'I am Maharaj disciple',- that is not being a disciple."

Anand Prabhu has proven a very important foundational principle in devotional service that the instructions of pure devotee will actually follow through even after his physical disappearance. Very important point, because this is the principle of vani and vani is what Srila Prabhupada had stressed and vani is what Maharaj also stressed many time. Maharaj is happy to see whenever we come to Rajkot or Dwaraka and we enjoyed his association - but deeper than that is whether we went back home and remained committed to follow his instructions as opposed to coming here and seeking justification for whatever we want to do. Maharaj said that these two things are completely different. One would make us mosquitoes. The other one will make us devotee. In fourth canto eighth chapter Narada Muni speaks to Dhruva Maharaj that you completely become absorbed in devotional service because whatever your mother Suniti advised is correct. Srila Prabhupada writes in the purport of verse 4.8.40 of Srimad Bhagavatam - "Narada Muni asked Dhruva Maharaja to undergo devotional discipline in order to achieve the desired result." Maharaj liked these two words devotional discipline. Prabhupada says that spiritual master can give everything easily to the disciple. But he wants to see that the disciple is always engaged in the process of devotional service.

Anand Prabhu is following the process of devotional service so expertly and is an inspiration for all of us. Devotional discipline can take place if we follow the instructions of the spiritual master, even if he is not present. Anand Prabhu has surrendered to Maharaj and he is as good as a disciple of Maharaj as any one of us would go to be - In fact we have to learn from him. It is one thing for us to have interacted with Maharaj and develop love for him - and it is another thing - never to have met Maharaj or spoken with him, just hearing him in the lectures and to have become so surrendered to him. This proves first the purity of Maharaj and the sincerity of the follower."

Krishna willing, we shall continue to hear further glories of Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
