Pass on the Bhagavatam Tradition - Part 4

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering, "Pass on the Bhagavatam Tradition" wherein we were transcribing one of the nectarean Bhagavatam class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.3.11. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. When we recite shlokas carefully we will be able to relish the association of Krishna.
2. Hear, Study and Realise the scriptures.
3. Read in between the lines.

Now let us hear more from Gurudev.

4. Practise what you study:
Gurudev: We may not be here all the time but please everybody has to come to these points in order to be satisfied. Otherwise, with so many things, you'll build the building also and temple also, but unless you are very serious about these things, those buildings have no value at all. What is there? Anybody builds the building. Birla, you know in India Birla has so many marble temples everywhere. But he is getting rotten because the real understanding is not there. This is Prabhupada's monopoly. He has given us, why has he given this, and why he has advised us that daily you must have Bhagavatam class? So, this should not become a ritual. Please we don't believe in rituals in ISKCON. We should always be very conscious, every time we have to take the class, we should all relish it. The speaker should relish and then only the hearer will relish. Otherwise, if you don't learn to relish then the real-eye-zation (realisation) is absent. And if you don't come to the reality, how can you, and if you really come to the reality, then would you be different from us that I should not put into practice? This is realisation.

I have understood the reality. And now the 2nd phase of the reality is that I must put it into practice. And who stops you unless you are careless? We have a careless attitude all the time. And carelessness gives us the laziness. And we find out so many excuses that " I am very busy, I am doing this, I am doing that". No! No! Rascal your business, first business is this then all other business. All other businesses are manifestation of this. Prabhupada always translated from 1.00 am onwards in night. And he had in his presence, in eleven years, 108 temples. In 35 years, we are not able to build one temple. And whatever we have begun now, we are very proud that "I am building temple." Arey man! In 35 years, one temple? So, by the time you complete your lifetime maybe two temples. See the potency of Prabhupada. Please, because he was very serious, sincere. Please come to this. Try to tear out these pages by studying. These pages should be worn out.

If we come to the subject matter (referring to SB verse 1.3.11) anasūya, Anasūya is the name of wife of Atri rishi, and the name in itself suggests that she is pure - without any envy. And this is the greatest quality if you really want to have the glimpse of Kṛṣṇa or you want to have Kṛṣṇa in your own family.  That is known as avataarah and that is the heading of this chapter. (Referring to 3rd Chapter of 1st Canto) This 1st canto, as a whole gives us the authority to proceed further to study the rest of the 11 cantos. That's why it is known as adhikaara lila. The whole of chapter is fully giving you the authority, to read further chapters, further cantos.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Krishnarati devi dasi
