Pass on the Bhagavatam Tradition - Part 5

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering, "Pass on the Bhagavatam Tradition" wherein we were transcribing one of the nectarean Bhagavatam class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.3.11. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. When we recite shlokas carefully we will be able to relish the association of Krishna.
2. Hear, Study and Realise the scriptures.
3. Read in between the lines.
4. Practise what you study.

Now let us hear more from Gurudev.

5. Pass on the Bhagavatam tradition:
Gurudev: Unless you qualify yourself, nobody will allow you to serve. You might become a doctor, but they have to serve some hospital for 2 years and then they qualify to practice. So everywhere the qualification is required, adhikaar is required. Somewhere you may appear for the interview, but unless you are trained in the job, they will not allow you to do the job. First, you train, you are trained and this is our training, the 1st canto and please this 1st and 2nd canto are special for us because these cantos were written before Prabhupada left India. So, he wanted to pour everything into it. He didn't know, already he was suffering from heart attacks. So, he was not sure that he will survive to translate the rest of the chapters. So, in these two cantos, everything is poured out.

Those who are very serious about these things particularly those who are in the inner core of the temple they must recite these two cantos again and again. Every word should be understood so that we may reproduce. If I have million dollars, I may donate one thousand very easily. But if you have only one thousand, I may donate ten dollars. And if I have only ten, I may give few cents maybe. And if I have only cents, I don't give anything. That is how. We must have million dollars. We must have a million times these Bhagavatam with us. Then we can give something. Otherwise, we can't give and moreover, these traditions are going, should be handed over to the younger ones. Otherwise, the traditions will stop. And as it is our younger ones are lost. As soon as you come to this conclusion then our duties are completely clear.

The first thing is we are, we are here. We are doing our jobs also, but all the time we are with Bhagavatam. All the time we are with deity. Nice altar is there. This is not an accident that the garlands are there and nice vastras are there. We have worked hard, isn't it? Somebody has put his labor, otherwise how the deities could appear so nicely. Please try to understand this. You have to put the labor in this also. It's not only the altar we decorate. And how clean it is. How nice it is. How pleasing it is. We are concentrating all our attention on the altar. How the hall is very clean. How nicely it is decorated. Prabhupada is clean. Everything, daily it is getting dirty. And even then, daily we are doing.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Krishnarati devi dasi
