Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
This is in continuation of the previous offering titled "Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj Vyasa Puja 2016", wherein we were hearing some of the glorifications of Maharaj, which were shared by the devotees in Sri Sri Radha Neel Madhav dham, Rajkot on the auspicious occasion of his Vyasa Puja. We shall continue to hear from HG Devakinandan Prabhuji about Maharaj's childhood days.
HG Devakinandan Prabhuji: "When I met Maharaj's son Shyam Prabhu in London, I asked him, "How did Maharaj establish your family in UK?" He said that Maharaj took almost 2 to 3 years before the family could join him in London and those years were very difficult years. Because Shyam Prabhu said that his mother told him, "We don't know where your father is living." She would suspect that he was on the streets. He would say in such a way so as to not to put his wife in difficulty or make her worried. And so he would say her, "Don't worry. I am getting on well." Many times Shyam Prabhu's mother would hear him, cough continuously with lot of phlegm - he had asthma also and London was also very cold. So Shyam Prabhu told us, "How much he was suffering, even our family doesn't know that."
And even till the end, as he was leaving his body in Bhaktivedanta Hospital in Mumbai, he was mindful of his duty as the eldest statesman in his family. Because he was the one who put through his brothers and sisters in schools and colleges and educated them, he put them all through marriages. So they were all devoted to him and whenever they were in difficulty, they all turned to him and he never ignored them. So till the end, he put aside Lakshmi from his pension, from his savings in London etc. And as he was leaving this world, he will take the money and give it to them when they came to meet him -as a grandsire he would just give them. And he would turn to me and Vaishnav Prabhu and say, "If you don't mind, this is some Lakshmi I have. Do you mind if I give it to them?" And we would tell him,"Maharaj, this is your hard earned Lakshmi, not even dakshina, it is your hard earned Lakshmi. So what are you saying? You could of course give it." In that humility, he did his duties. Maharaj said in whole life I could see only the hand of Krishna. That is why I could survive. Otherwise for the adversities I had, I would have died long time ago. This is something which we should learn from Maharaj. Never be morose Prabhus and Matajis. "Our destiny is there," Maharaj said. "Whatever will come will come. But if you have Krishna and if you have faith, then whatever that comes, it becomes a source of opportunity." So this is the greatness of Maharaj."
Krishna willing, we shall continue to hear further glories of Maharaj in the subsequent offering.
Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
