Missing the Century - Part 6

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

This is in conclusion of the previous offering transcribing the class delivered by HG Devakinandan Prabhuji in Sydney in April 2013 on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 4.19.34 spoken by Lord Brahma to Prthu Maharaj. So far we have heard the below points from Prabhuji:

1. Be peaceful and patient and not anxious and agitated.
2. Do not feel sorry for yourself.
3. Envy must be absent in our lives.
4. Material motives must be rejected.
5. We should accept the providential arrangement.
6. We should understand that the essence is the devotional mentality.
7. We must be very careful about our association.
8. We must become submissive and obedient.

Now let us continue to hear the remaining point.

9. Vaishnavas do not compete, but cooperate: Prthu Maharaj dropped all ill feelings about Indra. Lord Vishnu Himself descended in the sacrificial arena to bless the king. This is the immediate reciprocation Krishna gives when you leave asat-sanga, anger, agitation and anxiety and you fall at the lotus feet of devotee and accept that the true object of sacrifice is to glorify Krishna. Krishna was very happy with all the proceedings and Krishna brought Indra along with Him. Indra could not stand before Prthu Maharaj after all that has happened, but Indra took sadhu sanga of Krishna. Prthu Maharaj went up to Indra and embraced him and Indra became very shameful for his asampradaya and all his disguises and they fell at each other's feet.

Srila Prabhupada writes that, "Both King Indra and Maharaja Prthu were envious and angry with each other, but since both of them were Vaishnavas, or servants of Lord Vishnu, it was their duty to adjust the cause of their envy. This is also a first-class example of cooperative behavior between Vaishnavas. In the present days, however, because people are not Vaishnavas, they fight perpetually among one another and are vanquished without finishing the mission of human life. There is a great need to propagate the Krishna consciousness movement in the world so that even though people sometimes become angry and malicious toward one another, because of their being Krishna conscious such rivalry, competition and envy can be adjusted without difficulty."

Vaishnavas do not compete. They cooperate and encourage and help each other. In that way Vaishnavas are always peaceful with each other. We should never forget why we start devotional service. To glorify Krishna and see that He is pleased and that devotees come closer to Krishna. We are not here to sacrifice for a motive, for a number, for a century, for name, fame and designation. The moment these go out of the room, within no time the Supreme Personality of Godhead is revealed in our heart.

Our heartfelt thanks to HG Devakinandan Prabhuji for these realizations which are very much practical in all our lives to get rid of our anger, anxiety and agitation.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
