Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj - Vyasa Puja 2010 - Part 16

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the glorification and remembrances of our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, that took place during the auspicious occasion of the Vyasa Puja, December 21, 2010, in Shree Shree Radha Neel Madhav Dham, Rajkot. Let us continue to hear the next offering from HG Sarvaishvarya Krishna Prabhu from Gainesville, Florida.

HG Sarvaishvarya Krishna Prabhu is a very highly qualified devotee. He is working as a professor in the University of Florida, Gainsville and holds a doctorate in the area of Chemical Research. He has been highly regarded in the scientific circle for his research work in finding a natural remedy for Cancer. In spite of holding such a highly responsible and demanding profession, he still devotes a lot of his time in performing bhakti and is very humble and down to earth person. One of his most notable work is composing the books of Srila Prabhupada into avadi language in a poetic form which can be easily understandable and sweetly sung. He is very dedicated in serving our Guru Maharaj and for the past few years, he has been working on composing the epic work of Srila Prabhupada's Srimad Bhagavatam in a poetic form. The speciality of these compositions is that they naturally follow the verse, meaning and the purports as well. Below is a list of his compositions so far and interested people can contact us to receive his books.

1. Poetry Translation of Bhagavat-Gita As it is (Sri Gita-Sugita), hard-bound, 178 pages
2. Sri Isopanishad, hardbound, 68 pages
3. Srimad Bhagavatam (Sri-Bhagavata- Kathamrita), hardbound, 328 pages

We were fortunate to have a brief association with Prabhuji in Rajkot couple of years ago and fondly remember how much Maharaj relished Prabhuji sing Srimad Bhagavatam in avadhi language in poetic form. Maharaj was in ecstasy when he heard Prabhuji's translation of Srila Prabhupada's purports also in poetic form in avadi language and lovingly said - "Sarvaishvarya Prabhu, we are going to kidnap you. We cannot let you go back to the United States. You should stay back here and keep on reciting and we will keep on listening."

Our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Prabhuji for sharing this wonderful bhajan that he had composed in avadhi language to glorify Srila Gurudev. The below bhajan could be sung in the same tune that we sing "Hanuman Chalisa".

By: Dasanudas Sarvaishvarya Krishna Das

satguru mahavishnu prabhutaayee
tribhuvan vistrit kaun sake kahi
inki paavan keerati gaayee

All glories, all glories, all glories to Ashtottar-shat Sri Srimad Satguru Mahavishnu Goswami. His glories are spread all the three planetary systems. Who is capable of glorifying his most pious fame? No one.

sukh-sampati, vaibhava, sut, daaraa
tyagi krishna kee sharan gahaayee
ghor tapasya kari jeevan mahn
doobehu krishna-prem gaharaayee

He left his material comfort, wealth, opulence, children, wife and other worldly affairs and took the shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Krishna. He performed severe austerities in his life and took a deep dive in the ocean of love of Krishna-prem

param shaant sukh-dukh mahn ek sam
hiya maatsarya bhaava bisraayee
raadhaa-neelmadhavahin sevaa
taji nahin anya kaamanaa dhyaayee

He was extremely calm and undisturbed in favorable and/or unfavorable conditions of life. He was never jealous to anyone. He had no tinge of material desire in his heart. With purest love and affection, he only desired to serve Sri Sri Radha-Neelmadhava.

bhagavannaamahin drinha vishvasahin
anyaashraya pahin aas na jaayee
krishna tattva-ras pooran jnyaataa
sribhagavat preeti adhikaayee

He had a greatest faith in Holy-name and that was his only shelter. He was never dependent upon any material object. He has full-knowledge of Krishna-tattva,and he was the bonafide preacher of Srimad Bhagavatam.

bhakti-vedaanta kamal-pad seva
paalehu, paalan seekh sikhaayee
kaam, krodh, man, indrinha swamee
sadaachaar, shauchataa drinhaayee

He was always dedicated unto the service of the lotus feet of Ashtottar-shat Sri Srimad Jagatguru Srila A. C. Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupad, and taught us to take the shelter at the same place. He was the master and controller of material desires, anger, mind and senses. He strictly followed a pious attitude towards behavior and cleanliness of the body, mind and soul.

rahat praphullit karat praphullit
bhagyavaan je sangha lahaayee
“sada mrityu kaa dhyaan rakho” kahi
bhagavat bhakti ori chit laayee

He was always joyful and kept others in the same condition. Those are most fortunate, who could get his association. For the question of how to increase the devotional service unto the lotus feet of Sri Sri Radha-Neelmadhava, he will answer that "always remember that personified death is standing at your door. This only will keep your attention towards devotional service."

kathaa bhaagavat ki mahimaa tab
jab bhaagavat vritti apanaayee
naheen maatra upadesh rahaa varu
antim shwansa naam sharanaayee

(Before leaving to Sri Golok Vrindavan Dham, about a month ago when he was in Sri Radha-Neelmadhava Dham, although he was not attending any telephone calls at that time, surprisingly he talked to me for 45 min. In that telephone conversation, he preached me about the qualities of a preacher. The summary of that conversation is given in these four lines.)

Maharaj said, "The glorification of Srimad Bhagavatam can only be understood and effectively transmitted to others when we apply the principles of Krishna’s teachings in our own lives.  Otherwise, it will be a theory only without the practical implication, which will have no impact upon the audience.  Also, we must take the shelter of the Holy-name until our last breath."  Maharaj practically and expertly showed this to us by his own example.

param kripaalu jeeva hitkaari
ghoomi-ghoomi hari-naam sunayee
jagat virakta jagat mahn rahi ke
bhakti maarga kee preeti jagaayee

He was very kind, compassionate and helping to all living entities. He roamed around the globe several times and preached the glories of the Holy-name of Sri Krishna. Although from our eyes, he was living in this material world, he had a complete renunciation from this. His mission was to enlighten the souls suffering in the darkness of ignorance with the torch of devotional service guiding towards the lotus feet of Lord Sri Krishna.

yavan, mleksha, paatak bahutere
bhagavad virudh ghor kalikaayee
nirbhaya bhagavannaam lutaaye
varu kaayaa laagee shithilaayee

In this age of Kali, there are so many miscreants such as Yavanas, Mlekshas, and other individuals who are envious to Lord Sri Krishna. He fearlessly and freely distributed them the Holy-name of the Lord. And, he did so even his body was not co-operating very well.

pachchees janvary, do hajaar das,
saadhe teen baje sanjhaayee
bhautik leela kihehu sanvaran
nit leela vrindaavan payee

Finally came the glorious day of his life, the January 25, 2010 at 3:30 PM, when Lord Sri Krishna called him back to his abode. He completed his bhautik-lila and continued his eternal-lila in the association of the Lord.  He has left his legacy for us to continue our unalloyed spiritual journey.

‘sarvaishvarhin’ swamee satguru
raakhahu aapani kripaa saddayee
sribhagavat preeti hiya jaage
as asheesh dehu harsaayee

Oh! Spiritual master of Sarvaishvarya Krishna Das, please, please, please, always bestow your causeless mercy upon this fallen soul.  Kindly, give him your blessings so that he can also develop a tiny love for Srimad Bhagavatam.

Krishna willing, we will share other glorifications and remembrances of Maharaj that happened on his appearance day in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
