Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
The following is a humble effort to transcribe one of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 13.3 in Sri Sri Radha NeelMadhav dham, Rajkot in the year 2006.
(Maharaj begins the class by discussing about 2.13 verse first)
Maharaj: Read the one verse in the second Chapter of Bhagavad Gita (2.13)
dehino ’smin yathā dehe
kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā
dhīras tatra na muhyati
This verse clearly gives us the idea. As it is, as you know, we are all conditioned souls. Conditioned means, our existence depends upon certain specific conditions. In the conditions we have seen, that birth, death, disease, and old age is the main condition. Then in between these conditions, there are other conditions also, that daily we have to eat – that is the greatest condition. We must have some shelter to stay – that is the other condition. We are always afraid – that is the third condition. And we have to associate – mating problems are there – fourth condition. Apart from this, the modes are continuously after us. These conditions are unavoidable. Modes also, we are always consumed. Really, we are victimised by lower modes. These conditions stop us from thinking anything else than just to get rid of these conditions, and we can never get rid of it. That is our problem. Then, in order to forget the miseries created by conditions, we run after the glaring advancements – so called, in order to forget these conditions. When there is no remedy, we want to forget. We have experience that we cannot get out of these conditions. There is no remedy visible. So, few of us, concoct the remedies and that concoction results in definite inventions. Now they are broadcasting that they soon we will find out the cloning and this and that. So many things. So many things we come across in the form of alluring inventions, which are not there at all.
Regarding these material advancements, we have seen yesterday, very nice, this 1.14.10 from Bhagavatam and particularly purport is very enlivening. Then you come to the conclusion. We started with the second chapter verse, is it dehino ’smin yathā 2.12? BG. 2.13. That verse is the main verse in the purport. Prabhupada discusses this long how the changes of the body don’t affect our soul. Soul always remains same. So, we can have the idea that if the body is known as kshetra, the field of activities, the knower of the field is transcendental. That idea we can get from that verse. And with this, the conclusion we can arrive. But we want to get rid of the conditions, that’s what we do. So, the planning comes in. And conditioned souls can plan, the planning is also conditioned. (laughter)
Devotee: Everything anti-Krishna
Maharaj: Everything anti-Krishna. This falls short because the blind man cannot lead the blind man. He himself is blind. The other man is also blind. So, they try to help each other, they will be crushed by the cars. Definitely, they can’t see. This is what is happening regarding us. Now, all our plans are failures since we are independent. 10,5 year plans are gone. Nothing is got rid, but more misery is the result. We did not understand the unconditional instructions of the transcendental literatures. In order to get out of these miseries, we must have some guidance which is coming from the higher source. The thing is, we can never get out of it with our concoctions. That is the point. And we try to. So, therein again the light is on by this purport very nicely. So, this purport, we should meditate again and again.
Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev
Dinavatsala Krishna das
