Surrender to Krishna Solves All Problems - Part 4

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the transcription of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 13.3 in Sri Sri Radha NeelMadhav dham, Rajkot in the year 2006. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. Inorder to get out of the miseries we have to take guidance from higher source.
2. If there is disturbance in celestial influence, then there are earthly reactions, which inturn affects our body and mind.
3. Material advancements leads to more miseries. So better to lead simple life.

Now we shall hear further.

Maharaj: The example of the moon is very befitting, and we are seeing the reactions. Those who are regarded as sane population, they are also becoming insane, or they are forced to be insane. There is no remedy as Prabhupda writes, its correct. Except, that everything is under control of Krishna. Krishna directs the illusory energy also to punish these people. So, unless we surrender to Him, there is no other way. And for that, in this purport, he gives the reference of BG. 7.14 from Bhagavad Gita.

daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā
mām eva ye prapadyante āyām etāṁ taranti te

And see the difference of the translation. This is Prabhupada. You should unfold him. He has given a bit different translation. Read the translation from Bhagavad Gita. Read it.

Murali Prabhu reads: This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome.

Maharaj: This is, three modes of material nature. Always modes are there. Yes.

Murali Prabhu continues: But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily cross beyond it.

Maharaj: And now see, the same thing is explained very nicely. Clearly states, that the reaction of material energy, is never to be conquered. Here it’s not maya, it is not only illusory energy, but reaction, see the wordings. The reaction of material energy is never to be conquered. Material energy reacts to the material advancement. That is the point we want to understand. We are not mad to become very simple. We are basically very simple so that we would not be victimised by the material advancement. We have changed our clothes, we have completely simplified our living, our food is simple, our habits are simple, these are all very nice. It is required from this point of view. Here it is clearly mentioned that- BG. 7.14 clearly states, that “the reaction of material energy is never to be conquered because of the binding effects of the three modes”. Three modes bind us, bandhan is there. Because these binding effects, we cannot conquer the reactions of the material energy. And we want to conquer by our plans. Therein we are failures. And then, he gives the remedy. “They can simply be overcome by one who surrenders fully in devotion under the lotus feet of the Lord”. So, it is mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te. This is the fact. Same key point is insisted in this purport. And the last purport gives all the different chapters, what they give. Generally, topic wise, He has divided, 18 Chapters into 3 parts. 6/6/6. 6 Chapters in the beginning, 6 Chapters in the middle and 6 Chapters at the end. Read the last paragraph.

Maharaj points out and reads: The second verse, BG Chapter 13 Verses 1-2. “In the first six chapters of Bhagavad-gītā the knower of the body (the living entity) and the position by which he can understand the Supreme Lord are described”.

Murali Prabhu continues: “In the middle six chapters of the Bhagavad-gītā the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the relationship between the individual soul and the Supersoul in regards to devotional service are described. Maharaj: (Very Good at the background) The superior position of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the subordinate position of the individual soul are definitely defined in these chapters. The living entities are subordinate under all circumstances, but in their forgetfulness, they are suffering. When enlightened by pious activities, they approach the Supreme Lord in different capacities – as the distressed, those in want of money, the inquisitive, and those in search of knowledge. This is also described. Now, starting with the Thirteenth Chapter, how the living entity comes into contact with material nature and how he is delivered by the Supreme Lord through the different methods of fruitive activities, cultivation of knowledge, and the discharge of devotional service are explained. Although the living entity is completely different from the material body, he somehow becomes related. This also is explained”.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev
