Clean Habits Attract us to Bhagavatam - Part 2

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of transcription of a thought provoking discussion between our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj and devotees on 2nd October 2009, in Sri Sri Radha NeelMadhav dham, Rajkot. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. Computers are a curse and are capable of destroying our sadhana when we don't use them judiciousy in Krishna's service.

Now we shall hear further.

Maharaj: We have to remember one thing, that everybody has to die. That is sure. "As sure as death", they call it in English. So, there is nothing more sure then death. "As sure as death" - it is said. But one thing we forget; that we have to die alone – nobody will die with you. You know that? The girl maybe attracted to you, but as soon as death comes, she will run away first. (laughter) Nobody wants to die with you. And even then, they can’t do it. That is Krishna’s arrangement. dehas chittāyam paralok mārge, dharmānugo gachhati jiva ekaha – that line you should remember. paralok mārge, as soon as we wind up from here, and that is going to be there, the soul cannot remain in the present body. So, the soul has to wind up. So, the consciousness winds up first and then there maybe something going on here and eventually it is obvious to you, that you are going to go away. But that time you are alone there.

When you came to this world, you are alone. This lonely position, we should try to remember. Birth pangs were there, except mother, nobody suffered. You suffered and mother suffered. And that is so very hard, we know from the description of Bhagavatam. Otherwise, we have forgotten our own pang. But both of them should die, but both of them survived to our surprise. So, the lone thing is there, everywhere. Then you are born alone, again, there was nobody accompanying you at that time. Then you grow up alone, you have to develop your body, one day, two days, three days, four days, 1 year, 2 years. All alone you had to do, on your own. And this struggle is always his or her own. Parents are there to take care but more than that, they can’t do it. The bodily activities you have to do. From the first day of the birth, the bodily activities have to be carried out by yourself. And your heart gets trained to carry on the activities. Because of the heart, we are able to carry on our own activities – bodily activities. Again, the same heart helps you to grow - sarvasya cāhaṁ hṛdi sanniviṣṭo. Here, Krishna is there, before birth He was there, the day we were conceived, He was there, so from conception, He is accompanying us. And He never leaves us. Soul and Supersoul - that is the nature. Soul on its own cannot survive, it should be in touch with the Supersoul always.

If parents let us go, then parents will not like us to be separated from them. Never. But now the complex situation is there. We attain our age, education is there, and for employment, we have to go here and there. So, they are helpless. But parents always feel that my children must be in front of me. But that is not possible. Formerly, it was joint families. We were 10 children, they were all together, farming was there, nice business was there, nothing was depending on the industrial development. So, it was very easily possible. Vedic culture was very easily possible because the main provision was farming. And since we are directed to follow the western style, our culture really took a dip.

Krishna willing we can continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Thank you very much.
Dinavatsala Krishna das
