Always Keep your Bag Ready - Part 6

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in conclusion of the transcription of one of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.15.33 in Sri Sri Radha NeelMadhav dham Rajkot on 22nd February 2006. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that our time should be utilised in two things only, either you are working for maintenance, or you are with Krishna.

Now we shall hear further.

Maharaj: Maintenance has to go on, you may have money, but you have to top up the money always. (Maharaj explains in Gujarati) Always we have to top it up, otherwise it will not be enough. This is how the case is. So, give allowance to the maintenance job and as soon as the maintenance is over, you please come to this corner. And the best way in our condition, is to read Prabhupada’s books and try to preach in our own humble way. You organise the programs, or you go somewhere to hear. First hear and then preach, hear and preach, hear and preach

Prabhupada’s potency is so nice, that anybody reads his small book, he starts speaking. Doesn’t require long. As soon as he reads one small book, he gives so much in it, that you start speaking about it. And that is his potency really. Krishna has sent him for this purpose only. That jivas like us are sleeping with open eyes, close eyes you sleep that is real sleep, but with open eyes also we sleep, we should not do that. Death is certain, but we keep our eyes closed and don’t accept. Suppose now you are going to Kanpur, so you are getting ready for Kanpur, you are doing, packing your things, you are arranging your Lakshmi, you know what you are going to do there, so many things you are arranging, why because you have to go.

So, we have to leave this planet that is more definite than Kanpur. (laughter) So, if you have to leave the planet and you haven’t packed your goods. (laughter) You came back you took something you came here and you have your baggage again. So, this is how, our baggage must be ready. And to pack these things, we require saint like Prabhupada. His books are very essential. Any small book, "Science of Self Realisation" is the best, you know. Then yesterday you were telling that book is also good. "Life comes from life" and that "Easy Journey to Other Planets." That is also best.

Any small book and it will give to you an ocean of knowledge. And then from the small books, you will develop the love for Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavatam. Eventually you must come to these two important scriptures – Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavatam. And you will be guided very properly. (Maharaj speaks in Gujarati about chanting the holy names only) With great velocity we should start to do these things. And daily reading must be there. Prabhupada’s books must be read in the house. That is the best way to stop this vicious circle of birth, death, disease and old age. And those who are dependent on us. There is a verse, you must be remembering that. That you should not be father, you should not be mother:

SB 5.5.18
gurur na sa syāt sva-jano na sa syāt
pitā na sa syāj jananī na sā syāt
daivaṁ na tat syān na patiś ca sa syān
na mocayed yaḥ samupeta-mṛtyum

One who cannot deliver his dependents from the path of repeated birth and death should never become a spiritual master, a father, a husband, a mother or a worshipable demigod.

(Maharaj explains this verse in Gujarati and about devotional clothing and how nice they are vedic sanskriti) Please, try to wash it daily and put on fresh clothes and chant the names of the Lord. This is the main thing to be learnt from this verse. Jai Srila Prabhupada Ki Jai.

Jai HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj ki Jai. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Maharaj for teaching this important lesson on keeping our bags ready. Being a Mahabhagavata, Maharaj always practised this principle in his life.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva
