Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
This is in continuation of the previous offering, "Surrender unto His Lotus Feet" wherein we were meditating on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 2.6.7 and about elephant king Gajendra surrendering to Lord's lotus feet when being attacked by crocodile in the lake. In the last offering we saw the verse 8.3.14 wherein Gajendra glorifies the Lord Who is the observer of all the objectives of the senses and Who is the solution to all doubts (and without whose help one cannot solve all doubts and inabilities);
Now we shall see next prayer.
In verse 8.3.15 Gajendra prays
namo namas te ’khila-kāraṇāya
niṣkāraṇāyādbhuta-kāraṇāya
sarvāgamāmnāya-mahārṇavāya
namo ’pavargāya parāyaṇāya
My Lord, You are the cause of all causes, but You Yourself have no cause. Therefore You are the wonderful cause of everything. I offer my respectful obeisances unto You, who are the shelter of the Vedic knowledge contained in the śāstras like the Pañcarātras and Vedānta-sūtra, which are Your representations, and who are the source of the paramparā system. Because it is You who can give liberation, You are the only shelter for all transcendentalists. Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto You.
In this prayer Gajendra offers his obeisances unto Lord Who is
1. akhila-kāraṇāya -niṣkāraṇāyādbhuta-kāraṇāya - unto the supreme cause of everything, Who is causeless and also the wonderful cause of everything;
This is another quality which Gajendra repeatedly glorifies in his prayers. Lord is sarva karana karanam - cause of all causes. But many times we forget this and think that we are the cause of all good things or successful things in life and become proud. So in all the "ups" of life, we must always remember that Krishna is the Supreme cause and without His mercy we can't even get up from our bed, what to speak of doing anything. So always the credit goes to Lord and His pure devotees, by whose grace we get the loving glance of the Lord.
Also every act of the Lord is wonderful. The whole material creation, though temporary is really wonderful. It is amazing how Lord has created a single sun to illuminate the whole universe and how the sun rises always in east, on time, It doesn't come and hit/collide with other planets. All the planets also keep floating in space and rotate in their respective orbits, without colliding with each other and this has been going on for millions of years. The moon and starts shine in the night and they do their respective duties as assigned by the Lord. The ocean and seas don't overflow every day and flood the back, the sweetness of rain water, the salty taste of ocean water , the varities of animals, birds, reptiles etc.., the seasonal changes etc...Lord is the ultimate and wonderful cause for all these things. While speaking about His opulences, Krishna says to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita verse 10.40 abd 41
nānto ’sti mama divyānāṁ vibhūtīnāṁ paran-tapa
eṣa tūddeśataḥ prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā
yad yad vibhūtimat sattvaṁ śrīmad ūrjitam eva vā
tat tad evāvagaccha tvaṁ mama tejo-’ṁśa-sambhavam
O mighty conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations. What I have spoken to you is but a mere indication of My infinite opulences. Know that all opulent, beautiful and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor.
Krishna willing we shall meditate further on this prayer in the subsequent offering.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva
