Devote your Attention to Krishna - Part 8

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev.

This is in conclusion of the transcription of one of the instructive nectarean Bhagavad Gita class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj in Singapore on 26th March 1992 on BG 18.58  In the previous class we heard from Maharaj that unless we know the importance of God consciousness, Krishna consciousness, our life completely proves futile

Now let us hear further from Maharaj.

Maharaj: You know, once it so happened that there was a dense forest, and there was a nice foot path, you know. It was covered by the grass. And there are in forests blind wells, you know, andha kupa, they are known as. And they are always covered by grass. So if we walk on the forest path, then we don’t know that there is a well there, it is covered by grass. And as soon as you step on this blind well, we go down in the well. So, one living entity, he was tired of staying at home, you know, doing all these things and everything. So he thought, I will go to the forest and become a nice sage and saint, you know. So he ran you know the forest path?. And to his surprise, in one blind well he fell down. And when he saw at the bottom, there were snakes, so many snakes. He thought, "‘I am gone, I am falling down, I will be killed completely". In the meantime, he looked at the wall of the well you know. And as soon as he looked at the wall of the well, there are roots growing on the wall you know. You might not have seen, old wells. But if you come across the old well, there is always tree root growing on the wall. And it is quite fixed you know. So he came across some root you know. And he caught hold of the root. He didn’t fall down. He thought, “Oh God I am saved.”

And then, he was just breathing, he thought that ‘Oh I am saved because I have caught hold of the root’. And to his surprise when he looked to the root you know, he examined the root whether the root is alright or not. To his surprise there were two mice cutting the root on both the sides. One was white and one was black. "Come on," he says, "how long this root is going to be there? I may fall down any time." It was very dangerous situation. In the meantime, there was a beehive, you know on the wall of the well. And from the beehive a drop of honey was dropping. He thought, "I will taste it." He was completely in a bewildered situation. He was hanging on the root, and that root was getting cut, any time he will fall down. But he was very busy in tasting honey (laughter). “My God You are merciful, You are supplying the honey”. In the meantime, his friend came and he saw that his friend disappeared. So he thought that he is in the well. To his surprise he saw him hanging on the root you know. And he said, “hey friend, you will die, because the root is being cut. I am sending you the rope. You please catch this rope and come up.” He said “Wait, wait, I am tasting honey.” (Everyone laughs). This is our precarious position.

Krishna willing, we shall hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
Uma Prathap
