Power of Vedic Vibrations - Part 4

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in contination of the transcription one of the nectarean Bhagavad Gita class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj in Sri Sri Radha Neel Madhav dham, Rajkot on September 28 2007 on BG 2.51. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. Everything is miserable in this material world. The best gift we could give to next generation is the transcendental sound vibration.
2. We should devote sincerely to Krishna - whole heartedly.
3. We must steal time from our busy schedule and study Bhagavad Gita

Now we shall hear further.

Maharaj: "Devotional service "- Prabhupada translates it. As bhakti is not only devotion, but it is devotional service. Some service is there, manual work is there. I always tell that two things should always be with us – One is japa mala, beads must be with us. So, whenever we get some time, you please chant the rounds. And another thing which should be with you always is the duster (cloth, cleaning cloth). It should always be with us. Plenty of dirt is around, wherever you go, please start cleaning – that will give you the exercise to your hand. You don’t have to go to the gym – 1,2,3,4 no. Just clean, everywhere please clean. These two things, we must carry. Otherwise, we are missing the human existence. Even a dog when it sits, it will clean the place and then sit – so let us be dog at least. We should clean always, so much of dirt is around. These two things we should always carry. That is devotional service.

Cleanliness is next to godliness. We are thoroughly unclean – we don’t shave, we don’t take bath. If we take, then it is just haphazard. We don’t put on clean clothes, nothing. Please try to be immaculate about this. Be simple but very clean, that is needed, otherwise your japa is also useless. With a dirty mind and a dirty body, what are you going to mumble about. Don’t do that. Cleaning comes first. This is buddhi-yuktā hi. Our devotional service is not niskriya, there is kriya in it, action is there. And the first action is cleaning. The more you keep clean, the more you will be elevated spiritually. Spiritual elevation depends upon how clean your surrounding is and how yourself you are clean in body and mind. In mind, don’t keep any corners. That is devotional service.

Here Krishna says karma-jaṁ buddhi-yuktā hi, certainly you should take help of the devotional service and try to do your karma. Please, the secret of liberation from the karma is to do our karma immaculately well. Suppose you are working somewhere, do your work very nicely and then you are free. At the end of the day, we are satisfied that I have worked very nicely. By shirking the work, you cannot be peaceful. We should never shirk, we are not shirkers, we are workers, and very sincere. According to our age, we have prescribed duties. So, please perform that duty very nicely. That is your devotional service. As soon as the duty is immaculately performed, you will be satisfied. Then karma-jaṁ, the fruits of actions will definitely be utilised in your devotional service.

There is no need of donation or anything. But please try to organise your own things like this, your own house like this, your own children like this. Do the prescribed duty very nice, this is the practical point from Bhagavad-gītā. Don’t run around here and there unnecessarily.

Krishna willing we shall hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Dinavatsal Krishna das
