Uproot the Weeds of Bhakti - Part 2

Hare Krishna Prabhujis amd Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Uproot the Weeds of Bhakti" which is transcription of one of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on SB verse 11.7.9 in Sri Sri Radha Neelmadhav dham, Houston on May 10 2001. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. Instead of wasting time running behind other things, we should sit in front of Deity and sing atleast one shloka lovingly.
2. If we run after Krishna, He will arrange everything.

Now we shall hear more nectar from Maharaj.

vamśī vibhūṣita-karān nava-nīradābhāt
pitāmbarād aruṇa-bimba-phalādharoṣṭāt
pūrnendu-sundara-mukhāt aravinda-netrāt

His netrāt, like lotus petals, aravinda-netrāt. kṛṣṇāt paraṁ kimapi tattvam aham na jāne. (Maharaj repeats this three times: kṛṣṇāt paraṁ kimapi tattvam aham na jāne) I don’t know apart from this tattva, it is the substance, vāstavam. Vāstavam, vāstavam, what is it:

SB 1.1.2
dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavo ’tra paramo nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ
vedyaṁ vāstavam atra vastu śivadaṁ tāpa-trayonmūlanam

This is the main thing, tāpa-trayonmūlanam, unmūlanam, tāpa-trayo means three-fold miseries. As soon as you sing one verse for Him, tāpa-trayo, three-fold miseries are uprooted, unmūlanam. Uprooted means never to grow again. If you mow this grass, they mow and they throw away everything and again it grows the next day. Because the roots are there still. They just mow it. Don’t mow, your bad qualities, don’t mow. Or your miseries don’t mow, you uproot them; unmūlanam, tāpa-trayonmūlanam. śrīmad-bhāgavate mahā-muni-kṛte kiṁ vā parair īśvaraḥ, why are we running about anything else? This is the main thing.

And Srila Prabhupada has proved by his own example. Everyday he was getting up at 1 ‘o clock, 1 am to translate this beautiful scripture. Why we are running after anything else. Just one verse and it takes you from the material rut, from the material platform to the highest spiritual realm. And then in that realm, then you can move about as much as you want. As soon as we come to this thing, then all our ineberities in Kali Yuga everything, completely vanishes, eradicates, completely eradicated. This is the main substance of this scripture. As soon as you come to one verse, so very powerful. Please repeat: vamśī vibhūṣita-karān, don’t be poor in pronunciation. If it is long, then pronounce it long and half is pronounced to be half. Vamśī, śī is long, vamśī means flute, bansi. Bansi word comes from Vamśī.

vamśī vibhūṣita-karān nava-nīradābhāt pitāmbarād aruṇa-bimba-phalādharoṣṭā pūrnendu-sundara-mukhāt - pūrnendu, pūrna chandra, purnima, it is purnima today, it might have gone yesterday. It was full moon. His face is so very beautiful like the full moon and always smiling. As I told you yesterday, if you don’t smile, you cheeks will go stiff and your face will be like a banana. (laughter) Our Krishna is never like a banana. He is like a watermelon. Why can’t you give exercise to this (cheeks) Otherwise you have to visit some gym khana or something to have the cheek exercise. Once we went to some centre and they were doing cheek exercises. (Maharaj demonstrates the cheek exercise.) Aare man why? (laughter) And pay thousands of pounds to them. Man what is it? it is the cheek exercise course. (laughter) Sad, simple madness. This is the thing to be understood.

Krishna willing we shall hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
Dinavatsal Krishna das
