Sanity will Give us Satisfaction - Part 9

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the transcription of one of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Bhagavad Gita verse 3.36 in Sri Sri Radha NeelMadhav dham Rajkot on 10th May 2009. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that,  a little slip, here and there and you are gone, our whole sadhana, of lifetime sadhana or 10 years or 20 years or whatever just vanishes within 2 seconds.

Now let us hear further.

Maharaj: Everybody is working for fruits. They have to pay the rent, they have to pay their own taxes, they have to eat, maintenance, children are there, so fruits are there. And sastras say that kurvann eveha karmāṇi, do like this. saṅgaṁ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ, you have to leave the fruits. How, how to reconcile? This is our duty to find out the practical way. What is the answer? What will you tell him? You all will be confronted with them. What will you tell him?

Fruits, they can have fruits, then percentage have to be (given up). That’s how. According to Rupa Goswami, it is 50-50. If not whatever you can give, 25%, if not whatever you prefer. You take out for Krishna. And that is what we do, that you have to pay 100 rupees per month. So, few people are paying, few people are paying 1000 rupees per month according to their condition. But some fruits are to be forsaken for the cause of Krishna and if you don’t donate even then it is alright. You take half a spoon of sugar and put it to ants. It is (form) of food distribution. Anybody can do it. Half a spoon of sugar, put it to the ants. Daily food distribution. And then if you have bit more money, buy some grains and give it to the pigeons. Food distribution. If you have more money, buy some bhoga and distribute. Buy a bunch of bananas and give it to the monkeys. That is food distributions. If you have more money, try to do something, give it to the cows, where there are cows, we put the grass, so this way, you have to forgo something for the general cause. That is the way out of.So, sastras insist that you may not forgo the whole thing, but part of it has to go. And whatever is remaining, frankly speaking, we are spending towards our family or some other people. It is sewa. You are doing sewa towards the family. We are doing sewa to the society. Money is bound to go away. So, better we calculate and part of it must go for Krishna. According to our understanding, if you can donate, donate. If you can’t donate, then use yourself. And this is how the via-media must be found out. So, people should at least try to habituate themselves to forgo something. Otherwise, Krishna has His own way to snatch.

There was one of our devotees in London. So, we have our account there. So, in that account 4-5 people put 10 pounds per month or something. So, till I go, 200-300 pounds are collected. So, there were 500 pounds in that account. So, I went there and asked him that we have 500 pounds in our account, please bring - I want money here to spend. So, he said that, "tomorrow once the bank open, I will take." I told that tomorrow you can take out from the bank and give me today from your pocket. Tomorrow, you can take it. The account is in his name. So, he said that, "I don’t keep money in the house." I did not believe, but I had to believe. He told me so, there is no other way. Next day, police came to his shop, and he was nearly arrested, and they cut the phone lines also. He was arrested for some dishonest dealings. And they took him to the home without informing anybody and from home the police took out 88,000 pounds. And the fellow completely forgot that he had denied 500 pounds.  I mean to say, we may not be pleased about this, but this is how Krishna snatches.

Krishna willing we shall hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
Dinavatsal Krishna das
