Made For Each Other - Part 14

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev!

We have been meditating on how the divine couple Mother Sita and Lord Rama are perfect match for each other in terms of form (anurūpa dāmpatyam) and qualities (anuguna dāmpatyam). We will see how they are completely aligned in terms of their thinking (abhimata dāmpatyam).

Nowadays there are lot of reality shows in TV where they make the husband and wife to sit in different rooms and ask them a set of questions to find out how they give the same answer. But we see many differences in the answers given by them. But in case of Lord Rama and Mother Sita, their thinking was completely in sync even when they were separated by thousands of miles. When Ravana took away Mother Sita and held her in the Ashoka vana, he tried to entice/threaten her in various ways to forget Lord Rama and accept his silly and mean proposals. But Mother Sita placed a blade of grass in front of Ravana (to indicate that all his enticements are like insignificant grass in front of Lord Rama) and replied as follows.  (Ramayana verse 5-21-15)

śakyā lobhayituṃ nāham aiśvaryeṇa dhanena vā
ananyā rāghaveṇāhaṃ bhāskareṇa prabhā yathā

I am not capable to be tempted by wealth or by money. I am inseparable with Raghava like the sun-shine with the sun.

When the war was over and Ravana was destroyed, Lord Rama ordained Mother Sita to enter into the fire to show all the three worlds that her chastity is exemplary and she is never contaminated. Mother Sita entered into the fire and Agni, the God of fire presented Mother Sita back to Rama stating that she is the purest and why Lord Rama tested her. To this Lord Rama said that he asked Sita to enter the fire to show all the worlds about Sita's greatness and He said that He never had doubts on her chastity. He also revealed the relation between Him and Mother Sita as follows:

Ramayana 6.118.19
neyam arhati caiśvaryaṃ rāvaṇāntaḥpure śubhā
ananyā hi mayā sītāṃ bhāskareṇa prabhā yathā

This auspicious woman did not give way to the sovereignty, existing in the captive of Ravana, in as much as Sia is not different from Me, even as sun-shine is not different from the sun.

Though they were separated for many months and did not speak with each other, we can see that they revealed their relationship in exactly the same words. This was possible because their thinking was exactly the same. Also when Hanuman returned from Lanka after seeing Mother Sita, Lord Rama told Hanumanji that, "I cannot repay you for the help you have done." And after the war was over Hanumanji only carried the news of victory to Mother Sita and Sita replied, "I cannot repay what you have done." Hanuman very much wondered and said, "You and Lord Rama are exactly speaking in the same way."

We will meditate further on this in the next offering, Lord Rama willing.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Narahari Krishna das
