"I Have Done My Part" - Part 6

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the offering, "I Have Done My Part" - which is one of the chapters in the book Srila Prabhupada's Lilamrta. In the previous offering we saw on Srila Prabhupada's unending urge to give Krishna to all. Now let us see further.

Since Prabhupada wanted to meet all the disciples before his departure, devotees started coming to Vrindavan from all the countries in the world. Srila Prabhupada was very happy to see them and he was very enlivened to hear their reports on preaching and book distribution in other countries. When one devotee shared about book distribution service, His Divine Grace said,

"Keep your health very nice," Srila Prabhupada said. "Live as many years as possible. Be Krishna conscious. Then next life you go back to home-permanent life. There is no cheating, no politics, no personal ambition to fulfill. There is not any tinge of any personal salvation. Now can anyone point out that here is personal sense gratification? Can anyone? Can you say, "Here is my personal sense gratification'? There is no such thing in Krishna consciousness.  This is our desire-that we live with devotees and execute the mission of our predecessors. This is our ambition. Without ambition no one can live. Our real self-interest is to execute Krishna's desire. So do it very carefully, and if one fourth of the Americans become Vaishnavas, then the whole world will change... "

In Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.5.25 Narada Muni says,

ucchiṣṭa-lepān anumodito dvijaiḥ
sakṛt sma bhuñje tad-apāsta-kilbiṣaḥ
evaṁ pravṛttasya viśuddha-cetasas
tad-dharma evātma-ruciḥ prajāyate

Once only, by their permission, I took the remnants of their food, and by so doing all my sins were at once eradicated. Thus being engaged, I became purified in heart, and at that time the very nature of the transcendentalist became attractive to me.

In a lecture to the above verse Srila Prabhupada very nicely explains about the word - ātma-ruci as attraction to soul/Supersoul and how that could be attained by service and association with pure devotees. Srila Prabhupada's interest was to give Krishna to all - which is indeed the desire of Krishna - to take back all fallen souls back to Godhead.

Krishna willing we shall meditate on further teachings of Srila Prabhupada in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
