"I Have Done My Part" - Part 8

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the offering, "I Have Done My Part" - which is one of the chapters in the book Srila Prabhupada's Lilamrta. In the previous offering we saw how Srila Prabhupada was teaching by his personal example as to how Holy Names and Srimad Bhagavatam are the only shelter at all times and through them  we can remain connected with His Divine Grace always. Now we shall see further.

When disciples expressed their anxiety about Srila Prabhupada's imminent departure, His Divine Grace calmly responded as to how he was fine with whatever Krishna planned. '"Either way," said Prabhupada, "I have no objection-to stay or leave." He said there was a Bengali saying that if a dhenki (a wheat-threshing machine) goes to heaven, what will it do there? It will thresh wheat. Because the thresher is constituted in a particular way, it will thresh wherever it goes."

This is very important lesson for us. Wherever we go, even in this material world - our only concern should be as to how best we can serve Krishna in the given situation, circumstance. Serving the Supreme Lord is our original natural constitution. But due to the contamination of the modes we have forgotten this. By the good association of the big family of devotees gifted by His Divine Grace we must focus our attention on serving the Lord and His devotees and always remain as a good instrument in the hands of Guru and Krishna.

His Divine Grace had no personal anxiety about the departure. He was fearless of death and was waiting to see what Krishna wanted him to do. At the same time he lovingly encouraged the disciples by saying that, although everything was dependent on Krishna, the prayers of the devotees might influence Krishna. His Divine Grace also expressed as to how he felt happy to be in the company of his disciples. Being a paramahamsa His Divine Grace was seeing Krishna everywhere and serving Krishna everywhere. So for him going to spiritual world or staying with his disciples in Vrindavan amidst kirtan were all same.

Krishna willing we shall meditate on further teachings of Srila Prabhupada in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
