Krishna is our Only Shelter

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev.

Will reading the 10 canto, I notice that any time the inhabitants of Vrindavan were in trouble they would immediately without any hesitation call for Krishna and Balaram. Especially the cowherd boys, every time they are in the trouble or any simple thing they approach exclusively to the Lord just like when they got poisoned by Kaliya, when fire started, any time when demons would attack them etc..., Practically speaking at all times.

I start thinking what would I do if I got poisoned? Call for emergency ambulance?

What will I do if fire starts near me? Call fire brigade? Or if we get attacked by demons, I would call police? Very few lucky souls would remember Krishna and Balaram at that time, and what to speak of praying to Them whole-heartedly.

Don't you think that cowherd boys could have done the same, call for Ayurvedic doctor to fight poisoning? Instead they choose to call Krishna and Balaram very loudly and at all the time.

kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa mahā-bhāga tvan-nāthaṁ gokulaṁ prabho
trātum arhasi devān naḥ kupitād bhakta-vatsala

[The cowherd men and women addressed the Lord:] Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, O most fortunate one, please deliver the cows from the wrath of Indra! O Lord, You are so affectionate to Your devotees. Please save us also.

This verse reminds me of another prayer by Arjun when Asvatthama used the nuclear weapon against him, Arjuna seeing the great danger immediately pray to his friend Krsna.

SB 1.7.22
arjuna uvāca
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa mahā-bāho bhaktānām abhayaṅkara
tvam eko dahyamānānām apavargo ’si saṁsṛteḥ

Arjuna said: O my Lord Sri Krsna, You are the almighty Personality of Godhead. There is no limit to Your different energies. Therefore only You are competent to instill fearlessness in the hearts of Your devotees. Everyone in the flames of material miseries can find the path of liberation in You only.

As Bhishmadeva says during his last moments, we need to become ekānta-bhaktās, ie., take one and only shelter of Krishna. Then we will definitely deserve His causeless and boundless mercy.

I hope that some day by the mercy of all sincere devotees our Gurudev and Srila Prabhupada, I be able to fearlessly and sincerely pray to Bhagavan Sri Krishna whole-heartedly.

Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
Murlidhara Krsna das
