Final Destination - Part 1

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

The following is a humble effort to transcribe one of the nectarean class of our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.14.35-36 in Sri Sri RadhaNeelMadhav dham, Rajkot on January 24th 2006.

maṅgalāya ca lokānāṁ kṣemāya ca bhavāya ca
āste yadu-kulāmbhodhāv ādyo 'nanta-sakhaḥ pumān
yad bāhu-daṇḍa-guptāyāṁ sva-puryāṁ yadavo 'rcitāḥ
krīḍanti paramānandaṁ mahā-pauruṣikā iva

The original Personality of Godhead, the enjoyer, and Balarama, the primeval Lord Ananta, are staying in the ocean of the Yadu dynasty for the welfare, protection and general progress of the entire universe. And the members of the Yadu dynasty, being protected by the arms of the Lord, are enjoying life like the residents of the spiritual sky.

Every purport of Srila Prabhupada directs us some important point. Herein the residents of the transcendental world are discussed. Why is Lord's abode known as transcendental? Because it does not have any tinge of material things in it. We have 5 great elements and three subtle elements. They are completely absent there. Because of the reactions of the five great elements, we have miseries here. In our body, there are three great elements.  bhumi - earth, āpah - water and anal - fire. So gross body has these three elements and then breathing air is different. Breathing is known as praan and this body is known as sharira. Sharira and prān, these are the two existences.

In sharira we have bhumi, āpah and anala - land, water and fire. In prāna there are three elements - vyoma, ambu, vāyu - vyoma means sky - ākāsh is there, the hollow part is there in our nose and that is why we are able to breathe. Not only nose, till the lungs there must be hollow part. Otherwise we will not be able to breathe. So there is composition of sky, empty space - and if it is not empty, we cannot take breath. This is called as sky. Then ambu, water is there and vāyu - air is there. Please always remember that gross body is completely separate from this prānabody. Subtle body has mind, intelligence and false-ego and that is separate. But this prān side of the body is separate. That is why we should understand one thing that breathing exercise do improve the health. But it is not all in all. And that is where we commit mistake. So many thousands of people are just behind this breathing exercise. But please understand that this is not goal of existence. Goal of existence is sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhokṣaje (Srimad Bhagavatam - 1.2.6) Bhakti is the goal of our life.

Krishna willing we shall continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.

Hare Krishna.
Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
